Default busted struts only a month after my drop

I dropped my XA only one month ago with Eibach Sportlines and I noticed how hard the ride was. The other day I found out that my struts are busted already. The car has not been drive over 1000 miles on the lowered suspension. I was wondering what struts and shocks to get now. I was also wondering if they were easy to install. I did the drop myself so I guess the struts and shocks should not be that different. Any suggestions would be helpful. I am also not looking to spend more than 350 on them.

I'd pick up a set of TRD Sportivo shocks/struts. They're what I was going to run before I decided to go with coilovers.

Are you sure your struts are blown though? Leaking fluid, rattling, bouncing, etc.?

Are you sure everything is tight?

Check the 2 bolts that hold the strut assembly to the knuckle, check the bolt that holds the top-hat onto the strut, and also check the 3 nuts on each side that hold the strut to the strut tower.

You might just have a loose nut or bolt... and I don't mean "just." Take care of it ASAP, or someone might be taking care of you in a hospital bed.*

*Worst case scenario.

like zillon said, check everything out. did you torque everything to spec? theres no way that lowering springs should blow your struts in less than 1000 miles. souds like the spring is loose

Yep... after springs settle, the 17mm top nut has a tendency to loosen up, causing a knocking sound over bumps. Tighten that back down and you should be fine.

Well I took off the strut cap today and it was the 17 mm bolt. The left side was so loose I could have taken it out with my fingers. The right side was also loose but only slightly. I drove it around and it seems to have fixed the clanking problem. Thanks for the advice, you guys saved me time, money, and possibly the car and an injury or worse.

Uh... if you read the other posts you'd see that it was just the top nut...
