Van,
I just wanted to start a thread to help maybe motivate OTG in the production of the rear camber kits you have in design but not yet manufactured.
Previous thread: https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...er=asc&start=0
So anyone else out there that wants a 3 or 5-degree rear camber kit now is the time to post.

The kits I am asking for are rear only, if you want front camber plates Cusco and I think even Buddy Club has front ones but I am not positive.
I think Steve from www.bBist.com is running a set of the front camber plates not sure if they are Buddy Club?
Anyone else interested in the rear camber shims come on and post up?

I did a follow up e-mail with Van to see if he is interested yet or if we need additional people to get these done.
One other question is, does everyone want 3 degree shims?

I was thinking along the lines of 2 degrees front and rear, but 3 in the rear sounds good too.
I'm assuming your talking about NEGATIVE camber right?
-2 Camber in the rear is a lot.
-2 1/2 will seriously wear out your inner tread.
-3 is tire suicide for the street. Your outer tread may still have it's peach fuzz and you'll still be worn to the cord on the inside.
If your doing it for performance, forgetabout it. About the limit you want to run in the rear is -1 1/2 to -2. -2 would be aggressive and only recommend if your autox it often. Even still, you'll wear out your inner tread prematurly unless you drive very aggressively on the turns frequently and on a daily basis.. (I'm talking from experience here)
Remember, the more negative camber you run, the more straight line acceleration and braking ability you LOSE.

Hey you might be right about the tire wear but not everyone cares about that, if you do then you shouldn't get them, I'm not sure how I'm loseing straight line acceleration on front wheel drive car, but who cares about that, its not like we have F50 and we need tractions !!!
Here a pic with 5 degree camber, you should be able to tell which one is front wheel !!!

How much toe and caster did you have? Was that with 30psi for the life of the tire? I've seen about that much wear on the fronts of some sports cars with only -2 1/2 camber, and much worse than that on the rear with -2 1/2 camber. Let me guess, you drive it very hard on the ramps and turns. ; )
The amount of wear will also depend on the toe and caster. Rears of cars don't have caster, so only the toe can make a difference there.
The reason why the rear's typically wear worse with the same amount of camber is because when you make turns, your front suspension goes into compression and your front tires begin to roll, causing a more "even" wear. The rear doesn't go into compression when turning, therefore don't roll as much. Also, at least on front wheel drive cars, it's more front weight biased, therefore your more likely to roll the front tires in turns, and less likely to roll the rear tires. The rears will just scrub the same location in turns.
Btw,
- The more toe you have, any direction, will make it worse.
- The more caster you have, it will make it worse, but will not make as much of a wear difference as toe. Although, it will increase the amount of inner wear if you go more toe out(?). Can't remember if it's more toe out or in. It basically increases or decrease the amount of wear from every movement of toe. I've found on our car's, it feels like we have very very little caster stock.
Also, if you run cheaper tires like all-season radials, their side walls are less stiff, allowing for more flexability on the tread surface area and are less sensitive to camber change. Actually, this alone might be the reason why I see much worse results with less camber on the sports cars of my friends.
To give you an example,
Take an all season tire brand name tire or really cheap tire. These sidewalls are very soft and are for comfort. If you corner hard on these, your going to ride on the sidewalls of them right?
Let's take the extreme case. An R rated Hoosier or Kumho tire. These sidewalls are rock hard. I don't care how hard you drive those, or how much camber you put in those, you will NOT ride the sidewalls of them. ( I know because I've tried!) These things are almost perfectly square and deform very very little. They will slip before you ride the sidewalls. Just a 1/2 deg of camber make a big difference of wear pattern on these.
I know that not everybody is into tire performance, and that's fine and nothing wrong with it. Just want to pass along some background on the science of this.
Cheers,

I have e-mailed several other tuner shops and I will be going through the "BIG BOOK" JDM 2003 catalog I have maybe I can get at least a shop name out of it.
Not sure if Van has enough interest and/or time? Hope so
