SO WHAT??? You should have no issues with the standard tire diameter on a 2 inch drop. DO NOT get such a small tire, you are inducing a large diameter difference for no reason. This big a change will greatly effect performance, RPMs and speedo accuracy.

 

even still, you can easily manage a 195/55- 15" tire. That is the exact size that you'd need anyways to replicate the rotational diameter of your stock wheel .. so that your speedometer doesn't get thrown off balance.

 

Doesn't matter if you're lowering... stay as close to the stock diameter as possible to prevent all the stuff that Ted mentioned.

 

plus thin tires on a drop will make it look like its stock anyway.. :duh:

 

well, its mainly going down to that low profile of a tire on a 15" wheel(45 series is def. a lower profile), your gonna get into non-compience/ harsh ride issues + your speedo gets thrown off + theoreticlly your ride will be slightly lower to the ground vs. say a 55 series tire(by how much... not sure , maybe as much as a 1/2 inch).

 

Perhaps the poster likes the rollerskate look?? Such a small tire would look very odd to me. If the desired look is very small wheel and tire I would think the wheels would have to be very wide with a heavy positive offset so they would stick out the sides of the car. I see this look on some lowered Hondas etc around here. It would not appeal to me at all and I would be seriously concerned about vehicle handling and durability due to the greatly increased RPM levels at speed and very small tire contact area.

 

i like thin tire look, they looks like riding on rims.

 

Thats fine, but your wheel/rim may not "like" such a low profile IF you were to hit a knarly pot-hole, or something jacked up in the roadway.

Then you need to step up to a 17 or 18" rim for the rubber band tire look. The whole idea of running 15s is for a comfortable ride.

 

well looks like I am ALL wrong b/c thats the size tire that I have, I have Federal 595's and love them.
