So I have the TRD 18" wheels that come with the Pirelli PZeroNero M+S setup, and the Pirelli's need to be replaced soon.
Anyone have any specific recommendations as to another comparable summer tire that I could go with that would give great performance but keep at the same or less price of the Pirelli's?

Imo, I'd stick with the Pirellis... :D

The Avon Tech M500 is very comparable to the PZero Nero M+S, and they are only ~$80/tire. Check TireRack's comparison tests and see for yourself. I've run these tires for almost 20,000 miles, and I am very impressed with them.

 

Ziex are cheap and work pretty good.

I would recommend the bridgestone re-01r but they're very pricey.

BFG KDW 2s are really great tires, superior traction in rain/wet roads...if you're willing to pay a few more dollars.

Discount-Tire direct has them right now, buy a set of 4, get a $50 rebate back on them = 225/40-18 = $145 per tire, minus discount = $132.50 per tire.
