Default what is the difference btw rims for fwd and rwd?

i was trying to get my rims change from 18 to 15inch 100spoke wire rims like those lowrider rims.
i contact the seller and was told there are three offset high offet med offset and reversed offset. wasnot told specific number.
i wanted to get med offset on front and deep dish on rear..
but the guy told me that deep dish one is for only rwd cars only..but still they have 4x100 boltpattern adaptor.
what happens rwd car rims on our bow?
what is difference between those rims?

My RWD Miata uses a 39mm offset, according to everything I can find.

My FWD xB uses a 38mm offset, according to everything I can find.

Seems to me that the wheels from the Miata would fit the xB, providing the hub diameter is comparable.

what happens rwd car rims on our bow?
Huh?

you can get a deeper dish wheel for the rear if you want... its a trend i've seen in japan. the offset for the rear would probably be closer to 0 if not negative... and the fronts should be more positive than the rears... i've seen a FWD car with 15x7"+32 on the front and 15x7" +13 deep rims on the rear.

My Starion has an offset in the rear with a 2" lip and a 1" lip in the front and it is RWD.

yes its possible to put rwd wheels on the box... but if the rear wheel/tire is wider than the front wheel/tire... why? you would get some understeer with that setup... and as far as 100spoke wire wheels? you planning on putting hydros on that thing??

You're worried about understeer? On a FWD car? Ahahahahaha

Sorry. I just get a giggle out of the amount of understeer my stock box has compared to my Miata (even when it was stock, which was a *long* time ago) which only has understeer when I drive stupid/over its limits. I bought the xB knowing full well that it would plow the front end like an Amish husband in the springtime. If I wanna do tailhappy stuff I take the supercharged, overmodified Miata to Deal's Gap. :D

hmmm... i guess you've never been behind the wheel of a fwd car with oversteer (bb chasis prelude w/o 4wheel steering, or a fwd mitsu fto). its quick to compare rwd oversteer to fwd understeer. obviously if your drive wheels have a wider tire=>more contact to ground=>better traction. would you rather use 195mm wide tires or 225mm wide tires for the rear of your miata? hows about the front? now how about a fwd? :?:

I use 195s all the way 'round on the miata. Have had 205s on there before and it wasn't as fun.

4-wheel-steering is a different animal. That's not oversteering. That's just *steering.* :D

FWD, by nature, will usually understeer compared to RWD. This is the reason the vast majority of drift cars are RWD. I'm not knocking FWD. I have AWD, RWD *and* FWD in my stable. The FWD is a plowing pig compared to the AWD. The AWD is a pushing porker compared to the RWD. It's the nature of the beast.

I just thought it humerous to say that wider tires on the back would *cause* understeer because that statement ignores the fact that the car already *has* understeer in ample amounts. Wider tires would exacerbate the understeer, but the understeer is already there anyway, so the question is whether or not it would make the understeer unbearably predominant.

205 in the front and 225 in the rear. I had better grip and better handling with that setup on my rwd car.

You can put rwd rims on a fwd car, but many handling characteristics are changed. Some for the worse. You should always get a rim with the right offset for your car.

i know what hes asking, because i have wondered the same thing.

okay; the spoked rims use a hub adaptor and a spinner to hold them on. would putting a set of RWD hundred spoke rims with the RWD hub adaptor and the RWD spinner on a FWD box screw ____ up??

simply said.

rwd commly have lower offsets.. most wheels for front wheel drive have between +40 and +45 offsets and rwd come w/ more stggered offsets.
