Default Thanks god i bought Sportmax/XXRs!!....No Seriously!

I've owned SSRs, Volks, Time attack volks, Work wheels, etc on my past honda/acura vehicles.

But for my scion i opted for a little set of 15x8 XXR 501's

I've NEVER curbed a rim in my 12yrs of driving

So last week i dropped off my car at the bodyshop so they could paint my oem spoiler (thanks yellow sub )

Anyhow, due to working in NYC and being unable to go and GET the car once it was finished, i left my spare keys at my retired dads and asked if he could pick it up.

So he did.

A few days later i go to get the car...bring it back home and check around it a bit
All looks good...then i look down.

CHUNKS/GOUGES/SCRAPED TO $hit the entire lip of one wheel.

So i call him up and i'm like did you scrape against anything?
He's like.... when i was pulling it out the worker left it by the curb he must have done it.

then after that he admits he MIGHT have done it .

So today i had to order another wheel luckily under 100 shipped

Moral to the story here.

Although some of the cheapo replica wheels are played to sin on the INTERNET...in the day to day grind if they are round..and you can drive on them

its A-Ok in my book

oh and if you have nice stuff, don't let family or significant others touch anything you own lol

Damn right. People complain about cheap knockoffs all day long, but the fact is, they look good, and if something happens to them, it's not the end of the world.

I had a similar situation. Last winter, I had just removed my TRD 18s and put the steelies back on. The next day, I dropped by my parent's house and blocked the driveway. So my mom took the car and moved it. When I got back to the car, the rear right wheel was up on the curb.

So yea, had I not switched out, that wheel would've been destroyed... those weren't super expensive wheels, but they still were more than 100 bucks to replace.

Amen.

I had one-off 15x8 Work Euroline DH-Wides and was paranoid as hell driving around town with them because I wasn't able to replace one if needed. Same with the Revolution RFX's I had... one WAS nearly destroyed in an accident, and I had pretty much no chance of finding another one (luckily someone bought all four and was trying to repair the jacked one.)

Now I run 501's as well because they're cheap, easy to find and (if you aren't hung up on baller status) look just as good as the other sets I've run.

Very well put. I too bought a cheaper set of rims. I bought the oem scion alloy wheels just to make my car look a little nicer while I was still working as a toyota tech. I couldn't pass up the price. Lets just say I've never bought a rim that was about half the price of the tires I put on it especially when I get tires at cost. Around me the roads are horrible, I live in a farm town so cheap was the way to go.

Hahaha! That's typically the main reason why I run cheap wheels. If I rub, scuff, bend, crack, and/or shatter one of them, I don't care. I just pick up another one. (^_^ )

The funny thing is that I will only track "real" wheels & that's pretty much all I use them for. Hahaha! (^o^ ) <3
