Default whistling sound under hard acceleration

I think I might know what my problem is but I'm open to ideas...

When I accelerate hard I hear a high pitch whistling/whining sound that's hard to locate, but it sounds like it's coming from the right side maybe toward the back. I know it's not alternator noise from my amp because I know how that sounds and that isn't it. I once put a throttle body spacer on my old truck and it created the same type of noise, so I think this may be intake/exhaust related. My intake is stock except for a K&N drop-in filter. I do have an axle-back exhaust so I'm thinking the gasket where the pipes join my have a small leak or something. Could that make a whistling noise?

Any other ideas of what to check out?

I would defiantly look at the gasket to make sure it's not leakin. I had the same problem and that's exactly what it was.

Mine does this, but its because it has a Tenzo R intake. Most vehicles with almost any intake will whistle a little.I have never heard an exhaust leak whistle before...

Well, I'm bringing up this old post in case it can help somebody in the future. I got a brand new Borla single exhaust for $123 (I had to jump on that deal). When I removed the previous exhaust I noticed that there was a crush washer/gasket thing that was part of the OEM exhaust. I actually didn't see that and had put on a new gasket with my old replacement exhaust. So basically both of these gaskets were interfering with each other and didn't create a good seal.

I put on the Borla and trashed the old crush gasket. Problem solved - No more whistling and the new exhaust sounds good.

Where did you get the borla single exhaust for that price?

It was a lucky chance thing. I found it on eBay:

I was actually surprised to see it go for so cheap. I just put in an early bid and ended up winning it. The auction only got 74 hits for the entire duration. Crazy once in a lifetime thing...

Damn, if that other guy didn't bump it to $120, you'd have gotten it for $100! Always feels good to snag a deal like that.
