Default Always on headlights, not DRL, like Subaru

I recently drove a 08 Forester that was wired so when you turned off the key the headlights would turn off.i would like to modify my 09 xB to do this also.

Don't have it myself, I'm good at turning my own headlights off, and I can hear the audible warning when I leave them on & open the door.

The DEI 545t does have a good reputation, and when properly wired, will give you complete control of the headlights (you can override the "always on" with the off switch), or just leave it on full-time and the ignition switch will turn them off.

My last car was a Cadillac that had this feature; it was nice and convenient, but I've just gotten used to turning them on & off myself.

BTW, here it is on Amazon if you'd rather not deal with eGay:

If you google DEI 545t a bunch of different forum links will come up that you can check out.

I'm glad someone stated this! Seriously, how hard is it to turn a **** a few turns to turn your headlights on/off?

It's not hard, but some people can't always hear the warning (I definitely can't hear the turn signals - in my old car I could clearly hear it and remember to turn it off. Never had an issue with being THAT driver with it on for miles. But the xB2 is soooo quiet that I assume it went off, glance at the dash, and realize that I am now THAT driver.) And for people coming from automatic lights, it's difficult to remember. I would rather the lights go off than try to hunt down a neighbor who can help me jump start the car, or lug around one of those portable batteries. *shrug*

Wonder why the gen2 xb doesn't have the feature that when you open the door the lights turn off (like the tC)

Fair enough. I just don't prefer them especially now since I have hids.

When your headlights are on auto mode and you go under a bridge or a dark area during the day it will turn on your lights. Then they will turn off a few seconds later after you pass the dark area (not good for the HID bulbs).

if you're good with relays you can wire your headlights to turn off automatically when you turn the key off and open the door
