Default Getting Duplicate Keys Cut. Cheaper Alternative To Dealer?

Is the Toyota dealership the only place to get a duplicate key made? Trying to save some $$.

Thanks!

I'd try this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/UNCUT-2007-2008-07-08-TOYOTA-SCION-XB-XD-REMOTE-KEY_W0QQitemZ120412827435QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item1c0929ef2b&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=72%3A1205|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

I just skimmed the auction, but apparently you can request for the instructions on how to program the remote to your car. The key itself is blank. I think any key place can cut this for you. Not too bad for $60.

What is the dealer charging for this?

Are you using an aftermarket alarm?

I put in an after market alarm. Since I am using the alarm's remote, I don't use the key remote.

I got a plain ignition key made at my local locksmith for less than $10 and put all the OEM keys away.

Good to know, I thought my idea to do that was ghetto. I wanted to use the oem fobs, but seems the newer alarms use their own.
