I put on the trd lowering springs. I am currently running the stock shocks and struts. I have heard a lot of people say that you should get the upgraded shocks and struts. Is this 100% true. Who has lowering springs on stock shocks and struts and how is it going.

I want a real answer not some bs. dealer persuaded crap.

 

I have GoldLine springs with a 2" drop on my box.
Whenever you lower your suspension the way we do, you
are shortening your shocks/struts travel. Because the travel
is shortened, they are less effective, and ALWAYS active
(because they are part way through their natural travel).

So technically if you lower your vehicle, you need to have
shocks/struts to accomidate the shorter travel. So for my
two inch drop, I should either have shocks/struts that are
cut down, or designed to be two inches shorter.

What I'm doing, and many others like are too, is just riding
on the stocks till they pop, then I'll get Koni Yellow or some
other sport shock that's designed for the shorter travel.

By the way, I've been lowering trucks for about 12 years, so
I have a little experience in this. Driving style and roads
will effect your stock life of course, so good luck.

Hey any advice on cutting shock down? I've toyed with that idea for awhile with previous vehicles , they had "performance" shocks but still would be soo compressed equaling crap. any help is appreciated , or any diagrams , tutorials - Thanx , Darren

 

When you say "til they pop", do you how many miles the stock shocks will last?
I have tein s-techs on my xA, and have had them for 3k miles, do you have a good estimate on how long the shocks will last me?

 

Where can I buy a set of Koni Yellows for a good price. I did a search here on SL but found nothing.

 

Now my question is this. I am wanting to lower my box when i get it. I was gonna get the TRD struts and the TRD springs. But is there any problem in using the TRD struts with a different brand of springs?

 

no they are better than stock struts for any spring and will work with just about every spring but stock ones.

 

I would say at least another 12k or so probably longer.
