If you're in NY (me too), I would recommend Pirelli PZero Nero M/S (mud/snow). I don't have them yet, but they're what I'm planning on for winter. Look them up at Tirerack. Cheaper than the Potenza crap we have now and have excellent ratings all around. I'm pretty sure others on SL have them as well.

i'd go with the pirelli pzero nero m&s tires.. i have them in stock size on my tC.. in a 215/45-17 size (stock size).. works great.. just had to mess with the air pressures to control wear.. and rotate them like 2500-3000 miles.. but other than that.. excellent tire. last i saw they were $119 each at discount tire direct.. here's a link for ya

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...54&rd=17&ar=45

others here have the pzero's and they will tell you like I do.. they are awesome!

i have the hankook rs-2. more road noise than the bridgestones, much better grip, doesn't squeal as much when pushed through a corner, rain traction is much better. not sure about the tread wear yet. ive only driven about 3k miles on it so far.

I am also in NY and winters here can be harsh. The stock Potenza look like they will go nowhere in the winter months. So I was looking into getting snows but I think I will be better off getting an Ultra High Performance All-Season. What do you guys think of the Avon Tech M550 A/S?

jay.. the pzero nero m&s were good in snow, i would say up to about 3 inches.. then it started to spin.. but anything above 3 inches you should have real snow tires anyway.

On ice? no tire is perfect on ice, but it did a decent job, abs only came on once when I encountered ice.. and i was able to maintain control.

In slush, mix of snow and ice, the tires were good. Had to go a lot slower, of course, but it made it home safely. I never was scared of the weather with these tires. And the tires maintained their performance at -10 degrees outside (gotta love michigan)..

not to say these tires give a false sense of security, if the weather is bad there's always a chance of losing control.. but these tires impressed me as really being an actual "all-season" tire..

EDIT: you asked about rain? no difference in traction between dry and wet.. it's funny to see people looking at you as you pass them and they can barely keep control.. These are great rain tires.. when these tires are gone, I'll just go get another set of pzero neros..

Pirelli PZero Neros all the way .. ive recommended them before .. have nothin but good things to say about them .. rotated them recently and they really werent even that warn .. had them on for about 7k miles .. fairly good in the snow too (only when fairly new tho) .. i payed $550 installed .. got them thru NTB (had to have them ordered) .. they put them on wrong when they first installed them .. so they took $50 off the price .. so i made out .. price-matched using TireRack.com at $119 a piece ..

Are any of the Kumhos good?

They are a lot cheaper than most tires.

I brought this up before in another post....

I thought about buying 15's from an xA or xB and putting them on for the winter w/ some winter treads....

I thought about it more and wondered if it would screw up the tire pressure system/accurate mileage/and speedometer?? Any clues??

.:EDIT:. - Currently have stock Yoko's...no problems at all.

As long as you increased the sidewall thickness of the tire to compensate for the smaller rim so that you maintain the exact outside diameter of the tire, you'll be fine.

Are you talking about just putting 15" tires on a 17" rim? or are you talking about taking the stock 15" rims/wheels and utting them on your tc?

Option number two *will not* work, as the bolt pattern is completely diferent.

Was going to go for option #2...buy 15" rims/wheels to put on the tC...so the xA and xB patterns are different all together? That blows...oh well...was a thought.

yeah the xa/xb are 4x100, the tc is 5x100.

maybe someone makes a 4/5X100 universal. I'm too lazy to do the math, so I dont even know if thats possible, but I guess it's besides the point, because then you are talking about buying new wheels/tires, not just getting a set for cheap.
