Lowering Spring Install advice
Just got Tanabe DF210 lowering springs for the box. I ordered NF210s, but they sent the DF's by mistake, so rather than mess with a return decided to go ahead with the bigger drop.
The instructions are'nt the greatest, so I'm looking for input.
Two basic questions. With the stock shocks how much, if any at all to you need to cut the rebound rubber? Secondly, I noticed nobody talks about alignment, so do I need to get a wheel alignement after putting these on?
Appreciate any input.

i would not cut more than half the bump-stop...any more and it might as well not be there
i run Tein S-techs (had Espelir's before) and have not needed an alignment ... they are failry low springs
i know the Tanabe DF's are supposed to go a lot lower
the only way to know is have it checked
i know it is expensive, but how much were your tires??

I run the DFs on the box, and there was NO CUTTING involved. 100% oem fittment.
re: alignment, anyone who knows suspension will tell you that anytime you touch anything 'down there' you should get an alignment. there are a lot of things we SHOULD do, and the difference really comes out in the rubber. You may not notice any pulling, but a drop can (afaik) put camber way out, potentially wreck whatever geometry was there, an d a few thousand miles later you'll be looking at new tires wondering why it never 'pulled'. That's what I understand, and could be wrong.

I am pretty sure Tanabe wants you to cut the "bump rubber." They give the directions as to how much to cut off on the yellow sheet that comes in the box.

Before:
Center of front bumper: 8.5"
Center of rear bumper: 9"
Front of side skirt: 8"
Rear of side skirt: 8"
After:
Center of front bumper: 6.25"
Center of rear bumper: 8"
Front of side skirt: 6"
Rear of side skirt: 6.75"

I lowered it yesterday! I went ahead and cut the bumpers about 1.25", right were there was a ridge. It was actually pretty easy, and while we had the front struts off we mounted a DC sports strut bar when we put her back together. I didn't measure the before and after, but it looks pretty much like yours now!
Put about 50 miles on it afterwords, crossed Rairoad tracks, speedbumps, etc, and didn't notice a single thing. Hard to say about the ride quality, but I figure it's about the same, maybe slightly stiffer, but I'd expect that. I'm gonna take her in for an alignment next week after the springs have a little time to settle, but if lowering had any effect on the alignment it's not visible by the naked eye and isn't felt through the wheel.
