I gotta know the definitive answer to this problem!!!!!!
My question is simple, for those of you who really understand this. I want to have my wheels flush with the side of the car (XA), and I'm dropping the car around 2" with the Goldline springs. Here's my (eventual) setup:
2006 xA
Goldline springs (1.75" drop)
Rota Slipstream 17"x7.5 +45
Falken Ziex 512 Tires - 215/40/17
For all you brainiacs out there, what's the deal? On this setup, what spacers/shims should I be using to get the wheels flush without rubbing? Do any of you need any more information about this setup? I really need help! Remember, it's an xA!
Thank You!

Well, xB owner here, but I doubt those wheels will be flush. THat is a pretty high offset. You'd need a combo of OneTonGarage & spacer shime (ala H&R) to flush those out. That is just in the rear.
If you really want flush, you may want to find another set of wheels. Something in the +20ish range.

Well, I've talked to people running +40 offsets with 205/50/16 tires and 25mm spacers and they rubbed.
If you go with the One Ton Garage spacers (10mm) you will be just fine. You could go with 15mm and be fine, too. However, I can't say with 20mm or 25mm.

It's a little different on an xA. I would suggest that you email Van at One Ton Garage. He is a wheel genious. van@onetongarage.com
I would say that if you were to get the OTG shims, it won't make them flush but it will put them out further. You have 17's with a 215 tire. You should be okay with that. If you want it completley flush, you will probably need at least a 20mm spacer. This will also require longer wheel studs, which any brake/tire shop can install for you. With a 1.75" drop, you shouldn't have too much rubbing issues, even if you are completely flush. On the xA, you won't rub on the top part of the wheel, unless you have 5 people in the car. Where it rubs (in the rear) is in the front part of the wheel well. There is a little screw holding on part of the side skirt. There is an area of about 3 inches long right above that screw, and that is where it will rub on the tire. To give you an idea, here is my setup.
2" drop on 5zeigen springs.
Rear:
18x9 +33, 245 tire. .5" spacer (about 13mm.)
I don't really have any good pictures of the fitment of the wheels. This is probably the best one. I do rub with this setup, but most of the contact area has already rubbed off, so I really don't have that issue anymore.

The front, which you can kind of see in that picture.
You can see it a little better in this picture.

18x8 +38. 225 tire. No spacer. I have no rubbing anywhere with this setup.
Remember, you have a smaller wheel than I do, both size and width. You also are not lowering it as much as I did. You'll have to adjust for that. Having a smaller wheel and more height which will mean that you could probably get away with more than I can.
But email Van, tell him you have some questions about wheel sizes on the xA. It might take him a couple days to respond, but don't worry...he'll answer. The guy is really smart when it comes to this stuff. He picked out my setup perfectly, and this was before anyone started doing lower offsets.

Wow, your car looks great!
Okay, I'm gonna email Van and see what he has to say. Whatever he says, I'll post it here for anybody else in the same boat.
Thanks alot for the help! This is great!
