There is a lot being said but most doesn't apply. I can't believe Monroe doesn't have some senseatracs available for the xB yet and I could only find them for an 02' Echo. But who knows if that rear shock will work on the xB. I just want the rear to be a bit softer without spending more than 70 bucks for the Monroes.
I emailed Monroe so we'll see what they have to say about this problem.

Yes, SensaTracs for the xB are:
Shocks #5987
Struts #71575
Many people have done the shocks (including me) and a few have done the struts. The rear shocks are the biggest improvement for the money that you can do.

The parts books at the auto stores are not up to date with Scions, which only came out in 2004. They do show Echos, which came out in 2000.

BTW, SensaTracs are made for Tenneco in various foreign countries. Tenneco then sells the SensaTracs to large vendors like Monroe and NAPA. My shock boxes said NAPA, but the shocks only said Tenneco and Belgium. The strut boxes said NAPA and Spain, but I did not buy them.

Should also have said that the suspension of the xB and Echo are the same - which is why the same shocks and struts are used for both. This is true for both SensaTracs and Konis. If you want xB items, you have to ask for Echo. You can't ask for xB because it's not in the books yet. And you can't ask for those SensaTrac numbers because the books list shocks by application. After you find the Echo application, then you can see the part numbers, which become a double check to make sure the counter person looked up the right car.

Got em installed (rear only). They bolted right up but there were small differences. The lower mounting hole was just barely large enough to fit the stud. (xB has a larger lower mounting hole in the OEM shock) I'll test ride them tomorrow and report the findings. Also the price has increased. They are now $36.50 each. They do seem easier to compress than the OEMs though.

The SensaTracs aren't really considered a "performance" shock, are they? People are installing these for better ride not improved performnace (e.g. cornering, body roll, etc.)?

Correct Sushiboy, The springs will still give great handling and the shocks will smooth out the bumps. Now the front is still sorta stiff but I can live with that. Now people in the back seat won't complain.
