Default Option for calibrating speedometer/odometer

Yellow Box

Don't know if anyone is aware of this option for our xB's. This would allow the use of non-stock tire and wheel sizes (and more popular tire sizes i.e.- 225/40/18 or whatever) while ensuring that the speedometer and odometer remain accurate. Nice thing is it can be recalibrated at any time so it is a good option for those using different wheels/tires in the summer/winter. Has been a very popular item with S2000 owners on the www.s2ki.com forums. Thought people here might be interested in it as well.

Cool, I was not aware of another product that allowed this. I was surprised to not see anything like this mentioned in a lot of the posts I read. Most people talked about bringing the vehicle to the dealer for calibration. These seemed like a better long-term solution.

Is anybody using the Dakota Digital that can provide us with some feedback on its installation and use?

Would this fix the odometer calibration as well as speedo?

old railroad trick : use your stop watch, time a mile in seconds, divide that by 3600. = true speed. cost nothing.

From what I understand both the speedometer and the odometer are determined by the pulse signal sent by the speed sensor at one of the wheels. The vehicle computer basically is just using the number of rotations of the wheel, the factory wheel circumference, and gear ratios to determine the speed and mileage of the car (correct me if I am wrong here). These devices that we are discussing allow you to alter that pulse to correct the speedometer and odometer readings that would normally be inaccurate if you changed the wheel circumference by usng a different wheel and tire size or changed the final gear ratio which is common in some sports cars for better acceleration. You basically just splice the device into the two wires that run to and from the sensor and then use the switches on the device to calibrate and correct the signal.
