Default Front Brakes - Help!

MODs I wasn't sure where to post this other than here. If you need to move it to the correct locatoin please do. *********

Well my front brakes have been squealing when I brake. It's been a year an half and about 12k since I had them replaced and I figured it was time to have them replaced. I jacked up the car and took off the wheels and the pads look like they were brand new.

So now I'm confused why would they squeal? I took the assembly apart clean every area I can with brake cleaner and put it all back together. Drive it around I'm fine. Later that evening they start up again. I got my pads from Napa Parts and they are Ceramix. When I replaced my pads before I always have my rotors resurface.

What am I missing? HELP!!!

With FWD vehicles it's always cheap insurance to replace the rotors with new whenever you do new pads. They are too thin to have cut and reuse.
Do the new pads have that stainless piece on the backside. If not that may be why they squeal. Also stick with good quality semi metallic pads. For even better braking go with green stuff pads.

If the pads are good, then it sounds like you have some brake dust build-up. Pads are semi-metallic and the dust can cause squeeking sometimes.

Take your car to a self-serve car wash. Use the high pressure wand to blow out the calipers. Don't worry, you won't hurt anything.

I bet this helps.

Yeah...that's what I was saying...."if the pads are good"....which he said they were, then he needs to look at other possibilities....like brake dust squeel.

Now get off me chump!!

But "NEW" pads wouldn't have brake dust build up is all I'm trying to say. Why is that hard to understand Bro? And how did you use that smiley??? It's not in the list.

Thanks for the spelling correction.

I will try the high pressure wash but I cleaned them in and out. I also spoke to Napa and they said sometimes they get a bad batch, which is not a good thing to hear, so I'm planning on picking up a new set. They also said I could replace them with a different set. Hopefully the new set will be better.

Sorry it took so long to reply to everyone and thank you again for everything.

Kidkamel
