does the different amount of compression encountered when lowering an xB with Spy 1.25" springs affect the ride differently than with the 2" drop?
i was thinking that if the 2" springs compress the strut slightly, which in turn leads to a slightly bouncy ride, do the 1.25" springs have a little less bounciness to them as they do not compress the struts as much?
any thoughts on this would be appreciated....

i've said it b 4 and i'll say it again....the 2" drop with the goldlines is NOT BOUNCY! It is soo much smoother and controlled than the stockers. The stock ones were way to stiff. I couldn't be more satisfied with the ride! I haven't bottomed out the shocks on anything, haven't scraped out of any driveways, haven't had to go sideways over any speedbumps...they're perfect...I HIGHLY recommend getting at least a 2" drop. Anything less will make you want more!

i, myself, am a big fan of GoldLine Springs...alot better than stock and awesome around corners. 2" drop is the best look for the xB...i don't think the 1.25 drop does anything to the overall look of the xB... if you want to drop the car...drop it 2" not measley 1.25"
as scionracer says, with the 2" u won't even scratch over speed bumps...just slow down on dips though.

what i am asking is, what is the difference in 1.25" vs. 2" as far as the ride goes, since the 2" spring compresses [dampens] the strut a little more than the 1.25" spring...
you would think the 1.25" spring would be a little stiffer?
at least, that is the way i see it....
as for how they look, i agree the 2" drop looks the best!

it does compress the strut a little...and i mean little...more, thats why u cut the bump stops. Theres a guy on another thread that was posted today, and he said he got the trd springs and struts, and it MADE THE RIDE WORSE! and even MORE BUMPY!...Personally, i think that they made the xb struts with a 2" drop in mind cuz i've never been in a lowered car that rides this good!Peeple act like 2" is such a big drop...i mean cumon...seriously its like the width of a dollar bill!

but i have ridden on the Goldline's and they felt good to me....
and i have ridden on Eibach's and they were a little stiffer....
so i am definitely leaning towards the Goldline's....was just curious if the lesser compression of the 1.25" Spy's made them ride differently than the 2" Spy's....
i just gotta get a ride on some 2" Spy's and then i will know for sure....
I'm going to get Eibachs this week, but all of this Goldline talk is making me doubtfull. Is there really a big difference between Goldlines and Eibachs? They are both 2". I saw that Yanges said it was stiffer, but is it that noticablely diferent? I really hate the ride as it is with the stock shocks since it is pretty stiff.
Any supporters of Eibachs out there?

one of the guys in the club...eric from sd ...i think...got the eibachs, and the front was way higher than the rear, and he had to cut the front coils to make it even!...but that made it ride crappy

if you happen to come up the the bay area any time soon, I'll give you a ride in my xB. i have the Spy springs and will have the Hotchkis bars installed soon. i love the Spy 2 inch drop as its softer and more comfortable than the harsh stock springs.

Spring rate is a lot more sophisticated than making an assumption based on amount of drop (1.25" vs. 2") For more info, go here:
http://www.swayaway.com/Suspension%20Frameset.htm
It's entirely possible to have a smoother ride with an increased drop, but you'd obviously need to know spring rate. Do any of the various mfrs. publish spring rate data?
