Default Someone sound off on 17 vs 18

Before everyone gets all peed off thinking its another question about wheel size and what will fit its not. Anyone who had 18's and switched to 17's or vice versa give me your opinion on ride quality. I previously had 17x7 215/45/17 and it was better than stock. However I know have a 2 inch drop......what will a 40 series tire do in the way of ride height with a 17" rim and a 18" rim; post pics and specs if you got them...anyhelp I can get I appreciate. I will settle with 17's if I have to but 18's just look so appealing. I'm not trying to rub at full lock so no-one with fat tires chime; they look good but that looks not for me. Every other question I posted up here I have got great responses on and I appreciate everyone imput and I even sold some parts very quickly too.

I have 18's and have rode stock before as well and hands down no comparison the stock ride is better but I have to have something... next purchase will be 17's not 18's IMO.

I went from 18"s to 17"s and the ride quality is about the same. It handles better in the corners now, but that might just be better tires.

Ride quality depends more on springs/shocks. My ride was bumpy and stiff when it was stock.

i went from 18 to 17's and won't go back. ride quality is great, better mileage, handling, and it just makes more sense for a scion. if you're talking about looks though, 18's sure do look better.

I have 17x 7's on a 215/40/17 tire and dropped 2"...I love this set-up! I do agree that 18's look a heck of alot better though....
