Durst and Tran Post Best Qualifying Times in Norwalk
TORRANCE, Calif., Oct. 18, 2006 - - Leslie Durst-Armendariz and Kenny Tran, both of Scion Racing, tore up the track with their best passes this past weekend at the Number One Parts, Incorporated (NOPI) Drag Racing Association (NDRA) World Finals at Norwalk Raceway Park in Norwalk, Ohio.
Durst-Armendariz in the Horizon Motorsports tC qualified second in the Pro Stock field with a 9.80 e.t. at 135.1 mph and earned a bye in the first found of eliminations. On Sunday Durst-Armendariz had her best ever e.t. of 9.64 seconds at 141.1 mph on her first round eliminations bye run. Semi-finals found her facing series champion, Saul Salceda. Durst-Armendariz was unable to stage the car due to a broken transmission following the burnout. Durst-Armendariz finished the season in third place in the points championship for the ProStock class.
Both Tran and Christian Rado competed in the Pro Outlaw FWD category. Rado grabbed the number three qualifying slot in his WORLD Racing tC with a 7.92 e.t. at 171.5 mph. In the first round of eliminations, Rado won his match-up with a 7.92 e.t. at 174.1 mph against Stephanie Eggum who ran a 7.97 e.t. at 182.6 mph. In the second round, Rado was defeated by Ron Townsend due to a break in the tC's transmission. Rado finished the season in third place in the Pro Outlaw FWD points championship.
Tran and the Q-Nitto tC qualified for number seven with a best ever e.t. of 8.54 seconds at 169.4 mph. Tran lost to Townsend despite another best ever pass of 8.45 e.t. at 165.2 mph.
Tran, Rado and Durst-Armendariz will be joined this weekend by fellow Scion Racing driver Brad Personett at the final race event of the season, the NHRA Sport Compact World Finals at Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, Calif. on Oct. 21-22. Personett and the Titan Motorsports tC will be looking to repeat the championship Pro RWD win.

This show was great! We actually got a chance to meet with Leslie and Kenny, not to mention the other scion race car owners. We took some time to sit in the Scion trailer and talk to them about where they started and where they are going.
It was an amazing experience. About 5 members of Scion Evolution Chicago were there for the experience.
