Default Tire fitment 225/40/18 ???

I'm hoping for some good news here but from everything I have read I think I'm screwed.

I bought a set of tires/wheels on ebay and they were supposed to be 215/35/18(23.93"). What showed up was 225/40/18(25.08") which is over 1.25" bigger than stock. The seller pretty much said too bad and he isn't going to fix the problem so I need some advice.

I had planned on putting on the Tanabe springs with these tires but I don't think that will work. I'm guessing that I can run these at stock height but has anybody ran these with a lowered ride? I looked at the sticky and didn't see anything that helped.

Well, I fit them up last night and need spacers in the back but the fronts were ok. I don't have the new springs on though so I guess I'll try them and see what happens.

Definately go with TRD's or something close to that drop...You might get away with a 5mm spacer which is simple to install, or go with the 10mm shims spacers that go behind the hub...These take more work to install, but are still a piece of cake!

P.S. Sometimes you gotta hate ebay!

just a little bit gigantor .

more than an inch taller diameter

huge sidewall too. and the wider tires are more rolling resistance aka less mpg.

Well, I can see there is no way these are going to work with the DF210 springs. Guess I'll put the drop on hold since I am stuck with the tires. I do 30k+ a year so I should burn through these tires pretty fast and then get the ones I actually wanted.

So..........anybody looking for some Tanabe DF210 springs. I haven't even opened the box yet.

I had the same setup for a while. The front rub on turns, the rear worked perfect with the 5mm shim, and the 40series fill the wheel well perfect with the df210. Just exchange the front for 215/35. Keep the df210's they are great.

the fact of needing a 5mm spaces could be way off. he may need a 20mil spacers or no spacers that depends upon wheel offset.

Do you have some pictures with that set up? I think I can live with the tires on front. The rubbing isn't to bad. I have the OTG spacers on the way so once those are on I'll have to decide to drop it or not for now.

Right. These wheels are a 40 offset so I need a decent spacer. I put some washers on just to see how things would look/fit and came up with about 6mm minimum. I went ahead and ordered the OTG spacers so I have a little extra room behind the wheel and should still have space near the fender.

Let me see if I can dig up a picture. My wheels are a 45mm offset and a 5mm worked great. I could have used a little more to flush it but I didn't.

Pictures would be great. You don't have any rubbing on the inside by the frame? Once I get the spacers on I should have a better idea of how well it will work with a drop. I hate to put the drop on hold but after just buying the car and rims I'm broke so new tires are not an option for a while.

I did without the spacers. But after they went on no more problems.
