Stock tires?
I noticed some were lamenting the snow/ice performance of the stock tires on their xB, and I found mine to be exemplary;so it made me wonder what tires came on that xB. Mine came with Goodyear Eagle LS -- a Mud and Snow tire. What tires did YOUR xB come with?
Same. Never drove them in snow/ice. But I did find them lacking in cornering, dry and wet traction, so I swapped them after about 2,000 miles. I would have kept them for a while longer except I wanted alloy wheels. It would've cost around $15/tire to get them swapped to the new wheels vs. $55/tire for new and better tires mounted/balanced. Since I didn't like the Goodyear to begin with, I didn't want to pay to keep them.
all xB's (that o know of) come with the all season good year tyes. their average performance for me and last me over 40K when reguraly rotated and balanced. im at 30% tread now so hpoefully after i come back from vacation ill pick up a set of sportmax 002's and some yokohamas.
i had a set o directional yokos on my focus and was impressed with the dry performance but they didnt last long. wet weather was decent but not the best.
if you look a tire rack, you can see what tire tread you'd think would suit your driving style.

I bought the Yokohama TRZs.
www.thetirerack.com gave them a great rating and so did the reviewers. It's an 80,000 mile tire.
No complaints after 1000 miles but I have not driven in snow yet.
