if i get 17 inch rims for my xB should i get 205-40-17 tires or 215-45-17 tires. The reason im asking is i know someone who is selling there rims that have 205-40 and i need to know how much the smaller tires are going to change my gear ratio. The 215-45's are the tires that come on the stock 17" for the xB.

Anyone in the tampa/brandon/valrico/riverview area of florida that wants to sell there 17's reply or email me @ element1027@hotmail.com please put xB wheels in the subject line so i dont think it is spam. I would even be willing to get 18's if it is a good deal. Even better if they have tires to.

 

Our fitment team recommends the following two sizes for trouble free - rub free fitments:

Tire Size / Overall Diameter

205/45-17 / 24.2"
215/40-17 / 23.8"

 

I have the 215/45R17s with minimal rubbing. I think they look the best, and have the largest sidewall. BTW .. every speed trap i have passed, my odometer reads the same as the radar that is posted.

 

You're rubbing? When? full lock? or on bumps? Fronts? rears? What wheel size and offset pleasE?

I'd like to avoid rubbing...

If your speedometer has been calibrated for 185/60 R 15 (24 x 7.28 x 15) tires, replacing them with 205/40 R 17's (27 x 8.07 x 17's) would result in the speedometer reading high by 1.21%.
