I'll watch this thread; the two most famous swappers on here are in Minnesota and California. If I had the courage and the SMD iron, I might be willing to do it, but it seems high stakes considering that the mileage is stored on flash in there.

I'll have my LED's in any day now, I'll let you know how it goes. ;) I've been electronics for 10 years now, so doing it is no problem. Just depends on how much time it takes me. I'm going to do it without cutting any traces on the PCB though, I've always hated when people do that... I've already ripped mine apart and diagramed the circuit so I'm pretty sure I can do it that way. I live in Foxboro (couple miles from the stadium) but I work in Natick and I'm in Boston every weekend. (ie: right now. LOL Xmas party at the GF's.) I should be able to do them no problem, I ordered a bunch of red and blue, but no green or white. Maybe I should get those too. I was actually thinking of doing color-change gauges, think that would be worth it??? Basically so you could turn a couple dials and change the color to whatever you wanted...

how do you get the odometer to reverse like that? Is there a polarizing layer that's changed out or something?

arbnpx....
yah theres a polarizing filter on the odo LCD that you have to flip. and fortunately for me, that color was the default it came out too. iono about with diff color LEDs what color it would come out, but i have all white LEDs.

str8upheney...
since we used my car as the guinea pig for some the techniques he used, it was free. he lives up the street from me so there was no turn around. the price all comes down to what you want to do. you best bet would be to PM him and see how much he would do YOUR set up.

pm SquallLheart

haha, that's brilliant. I thought you'd have to crack open the LCD to flip the polarizer or something. For any other color, it would effectively be the reverse of what it looks like with the regular polarization. I personally think it looks better with the reverse polarization.

If I could do the LED swap, I'd probably choose red with green needles. Unfortuantely I think the nearest LED swapper on here is on Long Island.
