dealer install? or was it trained monkeys?
lets just get this out of the way. i'm new here to the site, but not new to the car world and i have had a few custom rides in my life. so suffice to say i am a normal guy with a little more brain about cars than the mouth breathers that can't find a oil filter. that said i purchased my first new car last week and of course it had to be an xb. love my new ride
. the only problem is that the dealer couldn't install the short shifter the day i picked it up. well i dropped it off on friday and picked it up that afternoon to my horror. not really it just seems bad to me. hell my future wife shrugged and looked at me like i was being a perfectionist. but i was really unhappy with the install. i love the shorter shift and they did good on the instalation of the product but the problem i have is that the existing shift boot is now just floping around like a damn dead duck! also not to offend you trd people but i think to shift **** they put on there is also a product that came out of someones @ss. guess its off to beg my brother "the machinest" for a nice new custom billlet one. aw well i guess you get what you pay for. anyone else not like this product?
I trimmed off the black plastic sheath that comes on the TRD rod. That allowed the chrome collar of the leather boot to slide down the rod enough to expose the threads and screw on the TRD ****. But I didn't like the feel of the TRD shifter or its little ****, so I put the stock shifter back on.
thanks for the tips on the boot guy's. i will have to do some tinkering this weekend. found out that the dealer also forgot to put the screw bak in place in the rear cup holder. its nice to have a console that moves all around when you turn!!!!
well i guess i learned my lesson on doing it yourself if you want it done right!!! thanks again for the tips guy's!!!
dealer install? or trained monkeys?
i didn't know there was a difference.
feel around under the top rim on the shift boot, and you may feel a little clip in there, pinch it and pull it up. might fix the issue depending on the shortshift they gave you.
