If the IP is used only by the spammer, it is banned, but there are some (notably dial-up) IPs from LARGE ISPs that we can't ban without seriously affecting legitimate members.
So, the answer is we do when we can.

oh okay. cause the guy that run socal-tc-club.com, bans by IP that's why i asked. I don't know if that's his only method though. He's a computer nerd of some sort (but a cool one). lol
It just bothers me that I click on a link thinking it's related to the thread at hand and I then need to run a virus scan and hope the IT dept. didn't catch it on time. That's why I hate these kind of bots(sp?). I tried my best along with a few other members to warn other SL memebers not to click on the site.

If it starts out "maria-sharapova-sucks-b..." or "Jennifer-Lopez-Doing-A-H..." or something similar, don't click it, people! Gotta pay attention to what you are doing, not just post, post, post, click, click, click.
(Of course anytime the .sig cantains things like "www.dribbleglass.com/subpages/strange/sexlaws.htm I've violated a few....") the warnings may fall on deaf ears.
So, lemme say it one more time:
READ ALL URLS BEFORE CLICKING - IT IF GOES TO **** OR OTHER QUESTIONABLE SOUNDING LOCATION, DON'T CLICK IT!!!

I see sarcasm runs thick in yr blood
All good no hard feelings.
I got excited thinking it was a link to more pics of the cf lip kit and that url didn't have such an obvious url (don't remeber what it was) I wasn't paying much attention

spam, never noticed it. Although I was on a **** site after two six hour sessions on here back to back. I can"t always find **** all the time on my own. Was it at least good **** links? Dont answer that on second thought. Don't think thats the direction of this...lol
Lemme say this again, since it is absolutely basic security for ANY computer user and ANY internet connection:
READ ALL URLS BEFORE CLICKING - IT IF GOES TO **** OR OTHER QUESTIONABLE SOUNDING LOCATION, DON'T CLICK IT!!!
Anyone who is at all concerned with the security of their computer will look at any URL they are offered before they click it. There are no exceptions just because a friend sent it, or you are in a hurry, or you just don't feel like it.
"Social engineering," phishing, trojans, or any of many other ploys, depend on people not being observant, and just clicking through.
This is why nearly 80 percent of Windows based computers have assorted spyware, virii, worms, and other crud in them: Users either not paying attention to what they are doing, not knowing the proper way to do something, not caring what they are doing, or being just flat incompetent.
Anyone not looking at each new URL they click deserves what they get, but the rest of us do not deserve what runs downhill out of their compromised computers.
Basic Computer Skills 101 will say to look at the URL before you click, and if it is not recognized, not to click.

Just to give one other tiny bit of information, we are currently battling thousands of zombie Windows-based computers that have been taken over and used to spam on-line forums trying to get new recruits.
We are taking care of our members as best we can, but ScionLife members need to help us by taking care of themselves, too.
So, please, READ ALL URLS BEFORE CLICKING - IT IF GOES TO **** OR OTHER QUESTIONABLE SOUNDING LOCATION, DON'T CLICK IT!!!
