Default Do posts sometimes completely disappear?

I got a notification email about a new post to a topic I'm watching. When I went to view the post the message didnt exist. I know sometimes mods delete the text body of a message but do they sometimes make em completely disappear? Or did I get a time warp email?

No, the OP can delete the thread from what I recall. I know I did something of the like for some of my for sale threads after the item was sold.

usually if a post is deleted, there is still a post box there saying this post has been deleted...unless it was the lastest post in the thread, then i think it completely disapears so long as there isn't a comment after that one.
