Hi! I performed a search of the site and was only able to find a few threads about embedding video in posts, with the most recent having been dated November of '08. Is it still not possible to embed video (like YouTube, for example) into a post at this time? Does the same workaround still apply - i.e., just providing the link to the desired video(s)? Sorry for the potentially redundant question, and thanks for any info anyone can provide.

Mods, is there any way to make the appropriate answer a *sticky* in case someone else ever has the same question?

 

Still not possible. Links to video are fine. I know the forum is going to be "upgraded" here at some point, but honestly I don't even know if this is something that would be included. I'd really rather it didn't... just don't see a need.

 

Links to videos pose no problem, but embedding videos opens up the site to some attacks that we really don't want to have to fight, since it involves embedding content using HTML, and black hats can embed more than just a video...

Allan above is right that we will be moving to new forum software in the near future, but unless the new software has better protections for our members (I don't know yet), we probably won't see embedded videos then, either.
