SL totally sucks now...
You really do need to go through and bulk update them all as being read - which you can do a page at a time.
If you don't do that the message tab will flash until the start of the skiing season in Hell...

As much as I may or may not like the new design and software... it is what we have now and the old stuff certainly is not going to be coming back. Now if you want to provide something constructive on what specifically "blows" and what you think may actually help it, we're all ears.
I think it would be nice if the message tab always stays on the screen at all times like the old SL, that way we know that we already have a pm and not have to hit home and search again the thread we are watching
For some reason it took me sometime to figure things here, i dont have much complain of the new format.. just have more features so it takes sometime to get used to it. I dont really explore though, i just use what i need

I didn't like it at first, but only because it was a different layout. Now a few weeks into use, it completely blows out the old layout of the water. So quit crying and accept the change.

I wasn't complaining to be rude. The inconvenience of the new site design makes me not want to come here... and SL used to be my homepage.
The biggest thing for me is that the newest posts for my category (xB) used to be listed on the main page with the newest posts on top. It was easy to see what was new and what was responded to recently at a glance. Now the same posts are still on there from when the site was switched over.
Another thing is that the site is always trying to have me log in when I already have.
The model-specific list of "Items for Sale this week" is also blank. I used to do a lot of buisness here on SL.
Also, it used to be simple to hit the "my posts" button and see everything I've posted, regardless of it was a day, a week, or whatever. Just a chronological list without having to filter the search.
There are a few other niggles here and there, but it mainly comes down to it takes way too much time for me to see the recent posts on SL, which makes me just read bB Squad or other more specialized sites instead.

You can also turn the instant notifications on in you profile and the system will pop up a notification box telling you you have a PM and asking it you want it to open it in a new window (or just tell it to go away).

Here's How I answered that in another thread here in website discussion:
The slightly darker shaded envelope on the left (1) and the bold print of the subject shows there is something new in this post since you were here last.
The tiny chevrons just in front of the subject (2) will take you directly to the first new post in the thread when clicked.
The tiny chevrons just behind the last poster's screen name (3) will take you to the last post.
Clicking the subject will take you to the first post, clicking the last poster's name will take you to their profile, etc.
HTH
We really are working on fixing the problems we have identified, but some of the way things used to be will never be the same again.
One little new thing I'm going to try to get taken care of is to make the "first new post" clickie much more noticeable. I can design the new button, but I have to have the IB techies install it.
I'm trying for this
instead of this
