Default Some Needed Sections

I know Darren is hella busy but I feel we need to add/split some new sections.
I think its unanimous that we need FI forum by itself. Maybe even seperate xB/xA since there will be so many threads.
Also, I think we are in desperate need to seperate tread and butter into the xB/xA and tC. Same even with ICE, interior, and electrical. The platforms have totally different layours altogether. Then that leads me into ICE, interior, and electrical.
This site is getting so big, IMO, they might even be able to be their own sections. Electrical now is too broad and covers anything. Theres almost enough posts on this site about headlights, to give itself its own forum.

Now I know these are a lot of requests and suggestions, but im just throwing them out there for now . I know Darrens a busy guy but I figured it wouldnt hurt to ask.

Don't forget tread & butter. The bolt patterns and offsets aren't even the same between xA/xB and tC.

The result of the current layout was from tooooo many individual sections.

It could be more sectioned / grouped. Where there are more then 1 main page. A section for all the xA listings, xB listings & tC along with general can be on the home page. Then when you click on the car you want, it would take you to a list of sections for that car. Some things that could be in there are like:

Performance.
Suspension.
Exterior.
Interior.
Wheels/Tires.
Questions about.
Technical.
FAQ

Then all the home page would really have is

Scion News
Off Topic
"General"
Other Toyota Products
"Scion Clubs"
"Commerce"
"Regional areas"

With the names in "" having the same break down they do now. Its all a idea & would take some work, but could clean up the looks of the site + make finding model related stuff faster. All ideas & I do know it would be hard + take a good deal of time to do something like this.

I say we need a car show forum. When you have a big show you are trying to promote, and trying to get the word out to more than one region, it's a giant pain in the ___. You can't post the same thing in multiple region forums cause they get locked for spamming but there is no other way to reach the other regions.

A national club forum might not be a bad idea either. Then all the clubs that are more than one region could post in one forum about national meets and such.

Yeah, split the 'Tread and Butter" between the two chassis.

Most other fragmenting I disagree with.

I also still strongly feel that a Scion wide general topic is needed for things that affect ALL models (I.E. cost of fuel, dealer questions/actions, finance, aftermarket stuff that applies equally to all such as paint protection film, wax, cleaning supplies, oils, etc.)

Keeping track of gas prices, for example, is neither regional nor model determined. it is a 'universal.'

paint protection film, wax, cleaning supplies, oils, etc.
that stuff i always just throw in car care and maint. usually.

the one i feel most strong about is the interior needing to be broken up in sub groups. i dont think leather seat covers belong in the same forum for how to wire up side markers.
they almost need to be own their own.

um there is so NOT a need for an f/i forum. but tread and butter should be split between xa/xb and the tc'ers. as well as splitting up interior from stereo.

i know i am going against the grain on this one....

tires and rims should stay in one forum. so what if one car has 5 lug...

i would like to see interior broken out of ICE and electrical...what do leather seat covers have to do with a killer stereo??? or a fire ext., worn out floor mats, sunvisors, CF dash kits, seat belts, arm rests....

i agree with a Scion Wide forum for what Tomas said (altho "paint protection film, wax, cleaning supplies, oils" would go in maint and car care...)

and dispite Darren (hotbox05) who always has a negative view on things...
there is a need for a F/I forum. their needs are different than the current power hungry allows. it would keep newbs out of thouble to keep FI stuff out of POwer hungry (only one forum for all cars...)

i do not like breaking down all the forums (that are currently merged) into xA, xB / tC.

i think something need to be done here...

we used to use the calendar for this type of situation, but try looking at it now...
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/mycalendar.php

totally useless...too many events on the weekends.
plus it gets abused...every little event gets poped up there...

as for a whole forum just for shows, where do you draw the line for a 'big' show vs. a normal show??
how close to a diff region does it have to be before it gets put in there???

thoughts???

Those are good questions.

It would take a fair amount of modersting probably to keep it cleaned up too, not sure if you all would want the extra work.

As for drawing the line between big and little shows, I'm not sure you would have to. For instance, if there was a smallish show here in Tulsa some people in Siloam Springs Ark. , an hour away, might want to come down for it. But, we are in seperate area forums and I am technically not supposed to post in more than one forum about it, so they may never know.

I think any and all shows could be put there. I would volunteer to moderate that forum, and only that forum, too. Just because I do think it would take a fair amount of time away from the other mod duties.

Y'all may be right about things like 'paint protection films' belonging in 'maint and car care' but for some reason it seems that a $500 optional addition to the exterior of any Scion is just as much an 'accessory' as a $20 'bB badge' rather than being either car care or maintenance...

'Course, that could be jus' me. :D

i like your attitude!
i have no problem modding a meet and event forum.

i think for this to be perfect, all meets and events would need to be there.
otherwise someone could get confused where to look....

i see it as 500 bucks to protect your cars front end....car care
a 20 dress up item on the grill/trunk...drag co.

now the real dilema...a bra.

Ah! And how much DOES a new logo on the rear hatch decrease (or increase) the drag coefficient of a box...

Seriously, protective film is just as much an addition as a body kit or sunroof, just less visible - by design. (And it is not maintenance or care of an OEM part - it is an added part.)

Thing is, the film itself is applicable to ALL Scions (or most any other vehicle) not just to a particular model, hence, the desire for someplace to put it NOT tied to only one bodystyle...

Perhaps I made a poor choice of a Scion-wide example not tied to model - maybe I should have stuck with financing and service, and sales, and bodywork, and vinyl fancies, and cost of fuel (which started this for me - there are now several independent 'fuel cost' topics in different regions because there is no common place for them).

I'm going outside to enjoy the last days of summer...

Everything except local chapter club meets. Those, I think, should stay in regional forums.

Just my opinion and it may be too hard to get implemented but each region should have their own calendar. It would make things easier to find on a specific day. Pac-Mid has a thread for events because the calendar is so hard to use.

this is the one i thought about most. if you have a non-member from another region, how would they know?
all the other schedules are in the meets and events, now the club they were thinking of joining did not put the meet in the correct forum.

i know it is tricky. i just want to think it through as much as poss...
