I was reading a thread in here and I thought that Id throw out this idea.

Dont let new members post more than 5 posts a day for the first 2 weeks or so.

Hondatech does this and it keeps spammers and idiots from getting out of control.

It really would cut down on the repetitive thread posting in regards to the same old problems, complaints, parts questions, the ever so retarded " I drove home a new ____ last night!", etc...

 

If you are allowed to do only so much, you lose interest in it, no matter what it is. I think this would be a somewhat good idea as it would allow or get newer users to use the search to find an answer rather than a repeated post (I'm guilty of it too). Like I said though, people may lose interest and go elsewhere.

Yeah, it's not a terrible idea, but I think it will do nothing more than turn people away. Noobs are only a problem for people that forgot they were noobs once!
