i was on some other forums. they had a system where noobs would not see certain forums till they got xx number of posts. (not like ours where they can see but not post)
restrict people from seeing the general forums (off topic, general for each model and classifieds) untill they prove them selves worthy of being here.

also i see thay some of the forum names are not clear to non-car savy people.
i had a discussion with someone about Drag co. they thought it was for racing related stuff.
they were shocked to learn it was not.

Yeah, I suspect that 'Corner Carvers.' 'Drag Coefficient,' and 'Tread and Butter' aren't really that obvious to many folks.

I've been on other fora that limited n00bies to only viewing a subset of forums, and also limited 'non-members' to viewing only a limited number of forums. I've been on yet others that allowed anyone to post anywhere...

Both have their good points, both have their bad. Right now ScionLife strikes a fairly decent balance, IMHO...

Though the initial names may be misleading the descriptions right below them are somewhat clear.

Tread & Butter is another section I would like to see split since the offsets and lug patterns are not shared between the x* and tC models. ICE is still common enough to leave alone.

i would like to see ICE seperate from interior...

there is a thread in Gen tC about a broken chair...should this get lost in the numerious head unit questions and i pod hook ups.
if its interior and not about a stereo (worn out seat fabric, broken chairs, creaks and noises, leather....) they should not get lumped into such a specialty forum.

You do have a point. I just meant splitting ICE between models not splitting ICE to make sense.

Yeah, the descriptions below the titles in some views only are fairly clear, but I'm thinking more about when someone wants to post and has a choice to change to the 'proper forum' for their post - and has no description of the purpose of each.

Do they just grab whatever sounds good figuring the mods will move it if they guessed wrong?

Maybe if the forum titles were actually more descriptive to non-cognocenti it might help... :D

'Tread and Butter' is cute, bit 'Wheels and Tires' is a better cue...

As to the splitting of ICE, splitting by vehicle type isn't necessary, splitting by electronics/non-electronics would make sense...

(I haven't looked, but I still wonder what a kitchen chair has to do with anything... )

And, even as a mod, I don't move some posts that really should be moved 'cause I don't really know, for sure, where they belong...

Oh! And how 'bout a REAL General forum ("Scion General") for things that affect ALL Scion models, as long as we're thinking on it???

agree 100% Tom.

one ICE for all models.
i don't move some posts because they would be out of place wherever they go (even where they started out)

and a general scion would help...not really scion news or press stuff, but things that effect all scions...
