Before you read this I want to make it known I do not advocate drinking and driving. I had drinks between 5pm and 10pm and my last drink was 4 hours before I was driving on the road so I figured I was fine. I do however have anxiety and can freak myself out so badly that I start to believe whatever crazy thought im having..so here goes

WOW. where do I start.

I went over to my boyfriends house Saturday for a wedding reception and had two beers and 3 glasses of champagne over a 5 hour period. I left his house 3.5 hours after my last drink to head home. So I text my mom asking her if its ok if I drive because I have panic attacks and can make myself believe something if I focus on it enough but she said I should be fine. So i get off the ferry and im driving on the highway kinda scared but doing the speed limit and feeling ok about my driving. I get off in my city and think a cop is behind me so I make a turn on to a road and realize its a taxi. I go up the road to see a cop pass on a main road and see him make a uturn so i turn into a driveway and shut off my car but then he goes up another road to follow a car that had just turned there. Then a midget comes out of the house driveway I was parked in yelling at me so im like PEACE OUT and I leave. then I pass another cop and look and see if hes making a u-ey but he doesnt.

Then I go another two miles and im the only car around. I come up to a red light and I see a cop making a right on to the road im on. Then my light turns green and I go and then he flips a u-ey. I pull over into a gas station instantly cuz I know hes coming for me. He comes up and asks if its my car and Im gettin all nervous and shaking and tripping my words up. I was like "yeah well no its my dads but its mine" and then im handing my license, proof of insurance and registration shaking and im apologizing.

He comes back and says he smells alot of alcohol from the car and asks if i will do some field tests and im like ya. Then hes like "oh you dont think uve had to much" and im like no cuz my last drink was 4 hours ago. So I follow his pen which felt like it took 5 mins. Then I walked the line. Then I held up one foot and counted to 30. Then he asked if id take a breathalizer and im like heck yes i will. At that time another cop rolls up and is checking out my car and im like "theres lemonade in there so if ur searching my car thats my only drink in there" then hes like "no im just looking at your car. It looks nice and fast" then I explained how its not. Then we get to me taking my breathalizer. I take it twice and blow a .zero-two (sorry my two button doesnt work) and hes like your fine to go. And im thinking heck yes i am. I knew I wasnt drunk or anything.

So anyways..im already afraid to ever drive if I have more than 1 drink and this will make me never ever drive after any drinks cuz Im so afraid of this stuff happening.

I know he only pulled me over because I was the only car around and cuz of my car. Im fine that he pulled me over but jeeze I almost had a heart attack.

It amazes me how I had a feelign something didnt feel right and it didnt feel like the "oh i shouldnt be driving cuz im drunk" it was just gut instinct. I even thought about turning into a parking lot when i got off the ferry to just go to sleep for a bit cuz I had a feeling that driving wouldnt be a good idea.

sorry for all the LIKES in that writing.

I had almost the same thing happen to me a few years ago Nat. I got pulled over right after leaving the bar, at 11:30pm, I had gotten off work at 11pm. He said I didn't signal and most drunks don't signal, I said test me, I had had one drink. so i did the beathalizer and he said I was good to go, oh, and your tabs are expired by one day, he had been cruising the parking lot checking out cars and then watching for people to leave so he could pull them over. Life is slow and boring in the small town, guess he needed something to do, lol.

After reading that I think I need a drink.............. .......remember do not drink at all and drive.......and if you do have a drink while out...........just have one if you have to drive................no matter how long between the last one and the driving........it is just good practice...............and can save your butt.........trust me on that.........

Not sure what car you have, but sounds like the tC........cop magnet..........small sports car.....fast or not.........cop magnet..........

No go relax............

Sounds like she was in her Celica. Cops just cause everyone to get nervous I do the same thing if I notice a cop is following me I turn down a street or into a parking lot just being watched causes people to do stupid stuff to get pulled over.

Glad everything turned out okay and this should serve as a friendly reminder to everyone.

People were driving crazy yesterday evening I don’t know what it was.

Sorry you got pulled over.

It has been my experience and observation that it looks highly suspicious when one pulls down a road, into a parking lot, whatever, to avoid a police officer. And when I say "it has been my experience", I had a police officer pull behind me and I immediately pulled into the library parking lot to avoid having the police officer behind me. I was pulled over because of some minor thing AND he told me that every cop is suspicious of people trying to "lose" a cop in this manner.

I hate getting pulled over. I'm always so nervous and have problems just holding my license, registration and proof of insurance in my hand without shaking. Then I think my shaking is going to look suspicious... and shake MORE. LOL

My highly successful ticket avoidance plan is just a lot of yes sirs, no sirs and to fully admit to my crime and have NO excuse for it. Basically, the cop is right, I was wrong and don't even entertain the idea of somehow being right.

"Do you know why I pulled you over?"
"Yes, because I was speeding."
"Why were you speeding?"
"I don't have a reason."

Then I usually have to endure a little lecture and at the very end, he tells me I'm just getting a warning (but I usually already know this considering he wasn't writing the ticket out in his car AND I just because I've only had one ticket out of the 3 billion times I've been pulled over.

lol

^^ I totally agree with you Jenna. If you are respectful with the cop you usually don't have a problem and I have been pulled over a few times where I didn't get a ticket because I wasn't an a$$.

Well when I got pulled over for reckless I was very nice because I knew i was getting a ticket and he said if i cooperated he wouldnt take me down so I sit there quietly then he gets in the car and just starts driving and takes me down.

Then he tells them to put me in the bathroom since theres no other holding areas available then when im getting finger printed he told them to take their time.

im always nice and it never does me any good. even when im pulled over for speeding. Ive never been a jerk to a cop and i get shafted

I don't have any real plan for 'ticket avoidance' other than not breaking the law. Even then, though, one is bound to get stopped for something sooner or later - even if it is just "what are you doing out here this time of night?"

One thing I am SURE to do, though, is to hand the officer my driver's license and concealed carry license at the same time, then sit quietly, hands in view, until he decides whether or not to pee his pants.

(Last ticket was in, I think, 1978 - 'five over' on I-5.)

LEOs around the nation have been aggressively cracking down on DUIs in the past couple of years. If you were the only car in the area and the officer was having a slow night, he's definitely gonna find a reason to pull you for DUI. It is a zero-tolerance policy, and I'm even surprised they bothered to breathalyze you after you passed his field tests - he was really fishing for a reason to take you in.

One thing I am SURE to do, though, is to hand the officer my driver's license and concealed carry license at the same time, then sit quietly, hands in view, until he decides whether or not to pee his pants.
I would hate to be pulled over while carrying, from the stories my friend has told me. He, smartly, hands over his CPL along with his DL just like you. Of course, this usually leads to an extra 15-30 minute delay where the officer calls for a second unit, has him step out and cuffs him, removes his gun, runs a check on the serial, and runs him through WACIC/NCIC. And usually they will do something like remove the magazine and seperate it from his pistol (usually one is placed in the trunk) and tell him not to put it back together until they've driven away. Understandable, and I'd do the same thing if I was in their shoes, but this all sounds so annoying to go through. Luckily I have not been pulled over yet while I've been carrying, so it's all good.

P.S. Jenna, when did you become a 13 year old boy?

I think the more you focus on something... like police maybe going to stop you .... that is when it will happen. Like if you look at something you will head that direction.... or if you focus on a goal you will get there. Same for bad stuff. I just know that if I don't happen to have my purse for some reason, the cops will decide to stop me so I'll drive way far back home to get said driver's license once I know I'm missing it!!! (If I don't know I don't have it, then I'm safe.)

And if you ever feel like your driving is impaired (like you are sleepy, or had a few too many drinks, or your glasses are too dirty to see.....) Don't Drive!!!! Better to get pulled over by a cop than to run over someone.....
