Default I am going to be a new owner monday, quick q's

Ok i know there was a "buying a new tc " thread but i can't find it. I just need some quick pointers on buying a newer car. This will be my first new purchase.

I am set on a manual black or dark gray with alloy rims. Only two options i wanted from the dealer were air bags all around and supercharger. You know if the NJ dealerships install superchargers keepng warranty intack ?

I am going back and forth on if i should buying the SC from the dealer or are there other aftermarket better ones ?

I am sure these questions have been asking BUT my car just died today which is my reason for the upgrade and i been looking at the scion tc's for sometime now. I dont want my @$$ hurting on the way out. I have to buy this car ASAP -Monday i am going to dealership.

Any other tips/ advice .. i thank you in advance x 10 !!!

I am doing as much research in what limited time i have (at work). I am reading that the SC is junk. (i dont want to start a flame war between turbos/SC's so please dont make it one. I think i might hold off on the SC for now and maybe go turbo in the furture.

if u go turbo, u basically can put ur waranty in the toilet. if u go sc, u can still keep it. but it really depends on how much power u wanna put out

Thats true about the warranty. I have delt with turbos before and they can be VERY expensive. I guess later on i might get the SC. I guess i will just get the car right now, i have enough on my plate as is.

if you decide to get the supercharger at all get it early on so if there are ANY issues with it in the first 3 years they can deal with them. If you want till a few years down to pick it up you run the risk of eating the loss if you end up with a crap install or charger. I agree they should have a limited warranty on parts and install when they are put in but more then a single soul has had issues getting work done on them AFTER the fact.

Unless they changed things recently, the supercharger can only be purchase separately from the car, meaning you can't finance the supercharger through Toyota finanacing. If you get a loan from a bank, you might be able to.

As far as warranty, it's the remainder of the standard powertrain warranty OR 12 months, whichever is LONGER, as long as it has been installed by a dealer. If you have someone else install it, you get a 12 month warranty against manufacturer defects.

What you want to make sure is that an experienced person installs the supercharger, not one of the new kids that are qualified to perform simple maintenance (changing oil).

Check out www.trdsparks.com for price on the supercharger for the 07-08 tC. TRD Sparks also has really good prices on other items for the tC.

if you buy a new supercharger and have it installed by the a toyota/scion dealership, it will join your powertrain warranty which is 5 year/60,000 miles, whichever comes first.

so you can buy it new from trdsparks and pay your dealership to install it and you'll have a full warranty.

now, you'll void your warranty if you change ANYTHING in the engine compartment. mainly intake, header, or pulleys.

now the superchargers seem to have been improved, i used to dump on them all the time, but lately i haven't heard anything negative about. some of the issues have been address like the transmission support bracket, and so far i haven't heard of a bad seal or bearing failure.

the other part of the problems came from most likely bad dealership installs because they didn't know what they were doing. your average toyota mechanic just does oil changes and tire rotations all day.
