I'm painting the last parts of my interior and I'm trying to not break the thermo **** thingy, but the damn thing won't come off nicely! It looks like your supposed to pull and turn it but I'm trying with gentle force and it doesnt want to go, anyone know the easiest way? Thanks for any help!!

Looks like it was a twist-lock fit and then plastic spot welding was used in 8 spots to prevent it from rotating while installed. For painting purpose you may have to mask it off.

 

This is the easiest way that I take mine off. Take a microfiber towel, lay it over the ****/computer area, feel for the indents on the ****, take a pair of pliers and gently pull the **** straight out. It should pop right off or to the point where you can easily remove it by hand.

uhh the outer ring part just twists out.. it's kinda tough.. but possible.

You need to take a small flat head or knife to pop those little tabs up just a little bit that look like they turn. They do turn but they are sunk down just a little bit so u need to prop them up a lil then you will be able to twist the piece out

 

Oh...I feel stupid. I assumed he meant the ****. Well never assume...it'll make an a$$ out of u and me.

 

Thanks for all the replies and offers! With the method browndogg suggested and 20 mins of fiddling, its all come apart nicely and is being primed right now. Thanks for the help all!
