i found this the other day whilst browsing stuff about cars... i feel ripped off. almost as much as when i found out the front of the tC was ripped from a fiat now this.

WTF dude?

the front of the tc was more so ripped off from volvo than any fiat i've seen.

also, toyota owns a controlling interest of daihatsu. so how can they rip themselves off?

 

I thought they were a merged company of sorts like Drax said............so that must explain the look alike.......it is easier to have a close platform than many differant.......probably share many things......alike to save cost.

If you are wondering about the Materia, do a search for it - the Daihatsu Materia is the name of the left-hand-drive Toyota bB in the rest of the world. bB: right-hand-drive, Materia: left-hand-drive. Both made in the same Daihatsu factory.

This also means, of course, that the Materia/bB already has most of the work done to make a US model...

Yea, the Materia should have been the new xB, not the bloated thing we got.

The Materia has a lot more character too.

 

I read some where that in japan alot of the b-spec cars are just rebadged by different manufacturers. I think I read that in the new Siphon.

Am I the only one who thinks the US xB2 looks better than the next-gen world version. That thing looks like an xA hit a brick wall front AND back, like a PT Cruiser rear end and an xD front. The US xB2 at least has lines that actually flow, and this is coming from an xB1 owner.

 

That bB2 is the Garson demo car. It would explain why his car is like that because it would be the full Garson kit.
