My xB is just days old, with about 700 miles on it. Today a very strange thing happened:
I hit the fob to unlock the car and the driver's door was still locked. I hit it again, (heard the lock mechanism do its thing), and still the driver door is locked. Hit it twice to unlock all doors and entered the car by the rear door, pulled up on the driver lock knob but it was already up. Door still locked from the outside.
Went around to passenger side and reached over to use the inside lever to open driver door...still nothing, it acts like it's locked.
I use the fob to lock and unlock, and this time I was able to open the driver door from the inside, (still leaning in through the passenger door). When I got home I tried this again but everything worked correctly; I could not replicate the strange behavior again.
Bloody hell!! Anyone else have this happen? Do you think it will work itself out or should I be running to the dealer about this right away?

If you pull out on the handle on a car (any car) the lock will only come up half way. I have experimented with mine on my xb and when this happens it really does look like its unlocked and comes up short by a couple of mm, you must lock it and unlock it before it will unlock when this happens. It seems to be some kind of safety mechanism.

Hmmm...I think I get what you are saying but wouldn't this have worked itself out when I was locking/unlocking the car using the buttons on the key fob?
Anyway, the problem has still not happened again so I'm getting ready to just forget about it. I posted it here mainly to see if it's a common thing that others will have experienced, but it seems to be a freak one-time thing.
Thanks for your comment. :D

Happens to me as well, but on the passenger side. Oh well. I think that it is a simple problem. Of course, it never occured to me to just put the key in the lock and try to turn the lock.
I'm not kidding. See how lazy we have all become with these keyless deals?

It is intirely possible you are having some kind of interference. I know when i park my box at my grandfathers, i can always lock/unlock the car. The othe night, the lights lit up, but it never locked. I tried this several times, and every time it bliked locked, but never did. I had to manually lock the car, and close the door. Next morning, no problems.
* did you know, that if you unlock your Scion, and dont open the doors after you unlock it for a short period of time, it will automatically lock the doors for you?

Yes, and that is a feature I like.
I just don't like that if your passenger hits the lock button twice, fast, even while driving, the alarm goes off.
Yeah, I found out it's a 'panic' alarm deal.

I didn't know that. After it happened, I asked the peeps at KING TOYOTA about it, and they told me that was the deal.
As it is, my key fob thingy (yeah, that's the term), is so sensitive. I have to be careful not to hit on the way in or out of the car...Or it arms. Stupid.
Great picture for your avator...Guys...Where are we?

That fob sounds really sensitive. That is with the factory alarm? Weird, no problems with any of mine. I'm gonna have to test that door-lock alarm thing. It might come in handy one day.
Thanks for the avatar compliment. That isn't me, wasn't sure if you thought it was. I wish it was! He is an actor, Dominic Monaghan...see my sig.
