I recently removed my CAI and put my stock air box back on and with a stock style filter and no snorkel tube i avereged a WHOPPING 29mpg. I did have three people in the car and some luggage though on the way there and only two people and no luggage on the way back.....round triop was about 300 miles.

well i do have a scan gauge in my box. and surprisingly i thought that since the intake for the air box is a lot closer to the engine block that the intake temp would be a lot hotter compared to where it used to be. but that may be due to the snorkle being at the very top where the heat gets trapped. as for power gains, i have not felt any. but i can easily hear the difference between the snorkle removed with the kn filter compared to the stock set up

Let it start fresh. Every time you make changes or replace electrical stuff you need to reset the ECU by pulling the fuse for 5 minutes then put it back in. Then it will re-learn the new set up.
Don't forget to add the duct work coming off the bottom of the airbox running over in front of the drivers wheelwell to feed cooler air.

Hot or warm air is better than cold air coming into the intake, if you took the snorkle off that should do.

Warm-air-intake is an improved MPG thing
Cold-air-intake is an improved horsepower thing.
