lowering springs... cant decide
hey guys im new to this foums and i cant decide on what springs to get..
im either decideing to go with the hotchkis or the TRD. (plus i will be buying the shocks/struts with them)
so i am looking for something that will lower my car to a decent amount to where im not sitting too low or too high and i wont be scraping every little bump.. ive seen some pictues of TRD springs where they are sitting nice and some where they are sitting prety high so it still looks like stock, and ive seen pics of the hochkis where they are perfect and some where they are realllly low. can anyone help me decide or give me a few pointers or something, oh and btw i have stock wheels and i dont have a lip kit. and i live in Oregon if that helps..? kk thanks

Stechs! FTW!
i love them, im not going to give any sort of handling exaggeration, but they sit well.

I too am without a lipkit. basically no problem. im careful with speed bumps and potholes just because of my stock struts. Its temporary till i get some coilovers.

You don't have to get new struts but its recommended considering your going to have your suspension out of the car anyway..might as well upgrade but you don't necessarily have to.
As far as knowing if the struts have gone bad - you'll notice it..your car will probably feel like a boat floating on wavy water, and you will notice leaking on the struts..a lot of crud builds up on the struts when they start leaking..pretty nasty stuff.
also if you jounce the car it should almost immediately return to where its supposed to be..if it seems like its coming back up way to slow or bounces way to easy you probably have a blown strut.
But bottom line - when they go bad you will probably know lol
If anyone wants to correct me on this feel free! been awhile since i messed with this stuff but this is just some of the things i remember from when i was taking classes..

you wont need to buy new shocks/struts right away, and if they do go out later down the line, all you have to do is replace them, you can drive on blown shocks, it just wont be as comfortable of a ride.
