Question about tire sizes that are non-stock
Ok, I'm a complete noob when it comes to tires. I was kind of hoping to increase the width of my tires. I've got a few ideas with the tire sizes: 245/40R17 or 235/40R17. These have a diameter difference of less than 1%, the 245/40 being less than .5% so I think that they will fit on my stock rims. So my question is, am I right in the assumption that these will fit on the stock rims?
Sorry, but i would only go up to 225 on stock rims like what ack154 mentioned. 235/40 and 245/40 are designed to go on rims that are +8 inches. Since our stockies are 7 width, it is unsafe. I suggest that you go with 225/45 which is what i have on my stockies right now. Hope this helps.
