I may get a job in Honduras. I have the opportunity to ship my xB there as part of a relocation package. Should I do that, or sell the car and buy something there? Questions:

Were xB's ever sold in Central America or Honduras specifically?
Getting parts for an imported car in Honduras will be a headache. I read that the xB shares parts with the Echo and the Yaris. What parts? Engine? Suspension?
Were those cars sold in Honduras? Any other part exchanges?

I know this post is off the wall, but I need to start somewhere and I appreciate any help!

I'm not ready to sell the B, it's got 92k miles and I expect a lot more trouble free miles out of it. But waiting for parts to arrive from some other country, plus the duty and the 12% sales tax on imported parts, AND finding someone to fix can be a real nuisance.

yea i mean you should be able to get at least 60k trouble free miles from it still.. but were you planning on selling it there or what? i mean eventually you will get rid of it or eventually something will break. So depends on what you want to do. i would say if you have the cash flow going your way get something there that can be fixed there.

I think it really depends on the part. It's the same engine so internals, head gasket, belts, water pump, etc. should all be compatible. The sensors may be different though they would still bolt into the same holes on the block. Intake, throttle body, ECU, exhaust, and everything else may not be compatible.

Honestly though, if you're not abusing or turboing it not much should be needed, just the normal spark plugs, oil filter, belts and maybe the water pump. 365Motorwerks has over 200,000 miles on theirs BEFORE they turboed it and it is was still running after being boosted. About the only thing I've seen that can kill these engines is overboost or hydrolock.
