so the tC isnt the smoothest car on bumpy roads....and dropping it wont help either...so what im asking is, what has better ride quality, stock? or TRD springs/shocks combo? notable, best ride quality would be stock springs with TRD shocks...any info would be great, thanks

i just put in the trd springs and sway bar, everything else for now is stock. i think it handles much better now at turns and in general. the ride isn't much different then when it was stock. the car looks sooo much better now that it's dropped a little, and it hasn't even settled yet. def worth it to do.

do not drop you car with out aftermartket shocks. if you use stock shocks, they will be blown and the ride quality would go down the drain

its the low profile tires, the supsension is fine. if the ride isnt smooth enough for u, switch to a 16, or 15 inch rim, and biger tires.

I have read on this forum that the stock tires are not that great... with bad handling at turns and ride quatily and stuff..... could any of u suggest a good set of tires that goes on the stock rims? thanks... :)

it's not much the tires as much as that we are on a low profile tire, with a 45 you have very little road noise and bumps absorbed, u can switch to a 215/55/16 but u would need new rims

i was worried about this too, so I decided to go w/ trd springs and shocks after reading some reviews. IMO ride hasn't changed at all, I can feel the bumps more now but stock or not stock you'll still feel it. Handling has impoved dramatically and if you want ride quality, stick to trd , don't forget to get the shocks

has anyone actually changed to smaller wheels and bigger tires? If so, is it really a smoother ride?

If someone can verify that the bumpiness is in fact due to the low profile tires, I would consider changing them.

I always thought it was because of the sport tuned suspension.

i just put in the trd springs/dampers/rear sway bar and cant really tell the difference. then again, i'm used to driving a car with a way rougher ride, so my opinion might not be all that helpful..

right now ive got the Tein H-Tech springs on my car.. and i have to say that ride quality has changed VERY little. if not, its better than stock. handling is superb.. i love these springs. as for tires, i'm personally thinking of either going with the new michelin pilot 2's or some pirelli's.

Yep, when you have a sportier suspension with low profiles, you do sacrafice some ride quality, which is the case. Thanks to everyone for the info on the TRD springs and shocks. I have been looking into them and was wondering how they rode. I am assuming everyone bought both the shocks and springs and not just the springs? Thanks.

shocks are blown due to the STECHs.

ride is bouncy, even the tiniest bumps ull feel. but over i enjoy the bouncyness. makes it a fun ride

yea you'll most likely blow your stock shocks with the s-techs

Yea, I wonder about that combo also, with the TRD shocks/Tein s springs. I like the pictures I see with the teins. Would the TRD shocks blow after a while with those springs?

i think it would be able to handle the drop just fine.

has anyone considered increasing the rolling diameter? I know that the speedo and odoometer will need to be recalabrated but the ride could improve and so would the mileage

i got 235/35/19 in the front and 245/35/19 in the back with some falken ZR rated tires and my ride is 100 times better than stock, i also have the trd springs. just change your tires to some better ones because i think that is what makes the ride bumpy. i felt the difference and i love it.

trd springs are progressives which is NOT best for performance on this platform but good for ride. everything is a trade off. stiffer shocks will of course make it stiffer, but shocks make a bigger difference than springs unless they are insane rates. you need shocks if you change springs or else they will blow in a few years. there isn't adjustable shocks available yet afaik.
if you want best ride quality stock with stock tire pressures. or get a different car ;P
