Default Engine & Transmission Removal

I was wondering if there was anyone here who has removed the engine and transmission out of a tC. If so how long did it take, assuming you had all the correct tools. I will be doing this sometime soon with all the tools needed and about 2-4 buddies of mine and me. Any estimate of how long it will take with those factors?

Didnt remove the engine but did remove the trans and it took us about 4 hours or so? the only pain is the rear trans/motor mount.. that will take you some time and you will be saying a lot of cuss words to it! lol once that comes out, everything will come out quicker..

Alright that helps a lot! One of my firends who has taken apart and built his own custom cars estimated it between 4-6 hours so he wasn't too far off.

Not a build, a parting. I recently bought a 06 tC and someone was kind enough to t-bone me. It was totaled because of the side airbags on the passenger side. So we decided to keep it and part it and sell it.

Was a sad day but about a week or so later I drove away from a dealership in a 05 tC. (both manuals )

well glad you're ok from the crash! at least you'll be able to get some money back from parting it out...

Thanks, the insurance covered about 70% of the cost. would have covered 100% but we wanted to keep it to part it. Good learning opportunity in more than one way...

Yeah, around 5 hours is reasonable, especially with experience. My first time it took me around 2 days of on and off work with tool inprovisions to remove the engine and trans. Another day for total engine and transmission disassembly. This was with a Michigan salt rusted car and just myself and my brother, both with no car experience. You should be fine, especially because you aren't going to need to worry about reassembly.

I pulled my motor in about 6-7hrs all by myself so since you have help you should be able to do it quicker so long as you know what your doing. To pull the motor you dont have to remove the rear mount like (NB tC06) said just the cent bolt thru the rubber bushing for it wich you can reach thru the drivers side wheel weel. Much easier than removing the mount wich is not need. Rear mount is only removed when dropping the tranny not pulling the motor.

Are there any more tips and tricks I should know before I pull the engine to make it go smoother? I have the Service/ Repair manuals for the tC, but i was wondering if there is anything that works better than what it says. (Works better/ makes it go quicker... either or)

Be sure to completely remove the front motor mount including the brackets on the engine for it. Otherwise you may end up puncturing a hole thru your A/C condensor like i did when i did my motor build.
