Default Question About Warranty Repairs

Hello Scion Forums,
I have a question about warranty repairs that I was wondering if anybody could help me out with. I have a 2006 Scion xA within warranty range that needs a rear left shock replaced. I called the warranty dept and asked them and they said yes it is covered but they only cover the shock that is damaged. When I tried to explain to him that if you only replace one shock then the other will be uneven pressure and mess with the alignment. He said well if one is bad we only replace the bad one....So I said okay and went on my way. I'm bringing in the car to the dealership tomorrow. Is there anyways of getting a dealer to cover both shocks? And would they cover alignment? And will my car need an alignment after having the shock replaced?

Thanks,
the ugly one

dealership i'm guessing will cover the alignment sicne it is suspension getting fixed through warranty. when you get to the dealership if you talk to the service manager or one of the techs you might get them convinced to do both as they should know that when you change suspension you should be doing to all 4 (sort of like when you have to get new tires)

Yeah i'm gonna push to have all 4 done but i'll be okay with the rear 2 (at least its even pressure in the back). The good part is that it looks like its gonna be covered 100% by warranty. So hopefully the dealer just says well we want to make money and will order all 4 (front struts) and rear shocks. I'll keep you guys posted...Hoping for the best here. But I have heard ALOT of warranty horror stories.

So I got a phone call from the dealership today and they said that the shocks only had category 5 leakage and don't need repairing. I don't know how ____ING blind these mechanics must be but when you look at the TSB and the shocks you can see that they are both category 3 and category 2. So tomorrow I am gonna take pictures and measurements and come back to the dealer with said evidence and DEMAND that he fix the rear shocks under the warranty. This is stupid.

So I took it to a different dealer and it was rated category 3 as per the TSB and they are calling in for repairs. God I am SOOOOO mad at the other dealership for not covering this. They have now lost all my business I will be going to this dealership for any dealer only parts/warranty repairs.

However I am glad I am going to get some new shocks
