That sux. Is this just Toyota or do most car makers have similar warranty limitations?

At least being a Toyota, you probably won't need the warranty.

@scionfred: they did give me a little comfort when they said that the warranty amount would go to the principle of the amount i still owe...and they also said all trd parts are covered all over the world so i dont have to worry about that, but kinda dont make sense if toyotas in different regions arent covered with the same warranty...

@criminaltc: schizah is right

Does that mean that they're charging you for the warranty and letting you finance it or that they're deducting the cost of the warranty from the principal still owed?

It is weird that Toyota doesn't simply honor their warranty globally since they are a global company.

It really doesn't make sense. They do sell the Scion xB globally, but under different names like the Corolla Rumion, and the Toyota Ruckus, and they're all probably built in the same assembly line, and use the same parts with possibly a few market specific altercations.

Did Toyota tell you the warranty would not be honored, or did the dealership say that? because I'd get out the warranty statement and ask them to cite where it states that this warranty would not cover the vehicle if it is used outside the US.

A warranty is a guarantee that the vehicle is free of factory defects for up to its stated covered period. Thats like saying I bought my car in Maryland, so if i experience a breakdown in Mexico, it won't be covered because it didn't happen on US soil, or in Canada. It isn't like you'd be driving the car in Germany any differently than you would in the US.

@scionfred: well theyre just deducting the cost of the warranty from the principal still owed..so that saves me some payments..like 2gs worth

@draxcaliber: toyota is the one who told me, i called their corp and asked them personally....they said warranty voids once vehicle leaves the U.S.
and yes, they did quote and if you look at your warranty booklet thet comes with your scion it states in U.S...nothing about over seas...trd parts are covered just not the car itself...
and in germany i drive 25 mins to work 2 times a day doing 140km (about 85mph) and some roads are damn cobbelstone, which i found a new hate for . Driving in germany is different than the states

so it looks like imma be driving the beater more than intended...especially with winter coming around the corner. cant beat up the box too much especially when theres only a hand few, that ive seen, here.
