Default Answers to your DVD needs.

I just got one of these new 1/2 din DVD players two weeks ago. They can be mounted vertical or horizontal. Also, they will mount into any 1/2 din EQ size opening. They have video and audio outputs along with digital audio out. They also have video and audio inouts for that Playstation , Xbox, Camcorder etc. I work at a car stereo shop.

That one (according to the specs) has the coaxial digital output, not the usual fiber optic like clarion alpine etc use.

You'll need either one of the new 5.1 amps with built in decoding, or one of the 1/2 din decoders that has a matching digital coaxial input

On the other hand you can get rid of the entire bottom section of a PS2 as it is the transformern voltage regulator.

It has 4 pins connecting the 2 boards together, 2 are ground and the other 2 are 12.5 volts.
Desolder the pins and solder in wire and you can cut the entire lower section (board and empty HD bay) off the ps2 housing.I plan on doing this to my OLD PS2 when i get ready to install everything.

A voltage regulator might be a good idea, I'll have to check the PS2 boards for more info.
