Hey not only does it look like ___ now....will this little puncture mess up the sound that much ? it didnt go all the way through its just the surface, will it pop out a little more while playing....im soo god damn ____ed now, well maybe that will force me to upgrade to the 13oV.2 ...

it shouldn't affect the sound much.....unless it's an actual hole....then it might....I'd say upgrade to the eD sub, it'll sound better anyway...

But I restore vintage guitar amps as a hobby.
When we have a vintage speaker with a screwdriver hole
or other drunken guitar player accident, we repare the spot
with toilet paper and a VERY light coat of elmers white glue.
You might even want to water the glue down so you don't
put it on too think and change the tone of the speaker.

If it's just a stretch mark, don't worry about it, as long as you didn't knock
the voice coil out of alignment. If it's a slight tear, the TP and Elmers will also
be a perfectly fine patch.

Honestly, unless it's a hole, the best thing you can do for it, is nothing.

If it's a decent 12" driver and you decide to upgrade, I'm looking for something
cheap for a sub project I'm working on.

not blocked here at work. I couldn't see it in full color, but
it looks like that infinity has a hard plastic type cone?

If that's the case, and it's not torn, don't worry about it!

Or sell it to me cheap!

Looks like how I did my subs and amps in back. Great way to do it since you can still use some of the room and remove the subs if more room is needed.




Are you going to put plexiglass over it? If you do, add some fans to keep things cool under there.

 

It will eventually crack, run it until it blows, thats your only option.

 

it really shouldnt affect the sound output... but I hear you, if that happened to me I would be mega ____ed, like #$*%^&! ____ed... so yes I would agree change it, otherwise you wont be happy

 

Aren't those aluminum? If its not clear through you should be able to get a good amount of life out of it.

First day I got my subs, back in high school, I drove some buddies to go somewhere, someone put their backpack in the back and of course I was bumping them like crazy, I park and find out the zipper on the back munched up the sub quite a bit

 

it will sound fine...i had the same problem except the screw driver went all the way threw in mine....epoxy on the hole in the sub fixed the problem

 

That is a poly-propeleyne cone, epoxy will screw up the sound quality. Just run it like you have it until it cracks, next time use your hand as a guard, if you poke your hand that can heal

 

if you run them exposed maybe you can get a fancy grill to cover them.

 

Yea, most likely the life span of that sub is diminished. Just as long as the sub excursion output isn't high. The sound output depending on the puncture size will be affected. The noise through air medium transfer coefficent drops b/c of the differential in air movement produced by the sub excursion. Eventually, the poly-propelyne material surrounding the puncture will break down due to the subs frequency response. So in agreement with others, replace it when it dies.
