Default ATTENTION: TO THOSE PLANNING ON GETTING AFTERMARKET TINT!!!

After recently getting my tc tinted ( limo solarguard platinum/dark ... $220 inc moonroof and sunroof). I realized that something was wrong. My windows were making wierd noises when i rolled them up and down. The interior rubber window seals were pushed down by the installer when he was tinting the window. This was so that he could bring the tint below the guard to ensure full coverage. This guard is supposed to pop back up when you roll up the windows. Mine did, HOWEVER!!!!

The scion tc interior rubber windowliner also has a bottem layer. That layer was the one that did not pop back up.

MAKE SURE THAT ALL YOUR RUBBER WINDOW LINERS ARE "POPPED" BACK UP AND IN THE PROPER POSITION AFTER YOUR WINDOWS HAVE BEEN TINTED OR YOUR TINT WILL GET MANY SCRATCHES AND YOUR DOOR CAN POSSIBLY FILL WITH WATER.

my car is going to be retinted two days from now for free. I hope this saves others from having my experience.

all you have to do to fix that is remove the door panel... its like 3 screws... and then it just pops out out of the clips, just fix the rubber gaurd and unfold it. and it wont do it anymore. mine used to do the same thing

aye, the reson for the post is that if you DONT check them, your tint job will be ruined.

the problem is real easy to fix, but if you dont know its there, then you will ruin your tint before you discover it

WOW! A warranty! That'll cover just about anything - but your time & trouble.

Anyone have the problem of horizontal lines of light in the rear where peoples headlights are. I'm guessing it's just the tint not quiet flat against the heater element, I have an appointment next Saturday to have him re-pressz that and around the dots, he pointed them out and recommended doing it after the windows had dried a little.

lol... yes, WOW, a warranty. a warranty that also allows me to get it redone as many times as i wish. if i were to get a repair ticket from a cop because my tint is too dark, my tint place will take it off for free, (ill get it inspected), then they will put it back on for free. thats just another good part of the warranty.

yes, your out of time, but not money. i would rather lose my car for about 1 hour, than have to repay for my tint.

my .02... just think its funny how fast you jumped my case when i said that i had a warranty.

the fact is that 99% of all places have warrantys and the tint itself has a warranty (ie solar guard will pay to have it retinted if there is a defect ever. However, the main reason that you dont want to forget to check the liner is because it wastes your time. Many people dont have the time to skrew around at a tint shop. Noone, should have to have to pay to have it redone as the rubber guards are put down by the installers. SO, money was never the issue. While i dont really believe your whole ticket thingy example,
as most tint companies and shops have large disclaimers. Anyways, i merely hoped to save ppl some time and hassle for a stupid mistake on the installers part (most assume the scion only has one interior rubber or have never tinted a tc before).

you dont have to believe my ticket part. but if i had the time, and it ment that much to me, i would scan it to prove it, but thats to much work to prove something simple

all cars have this issue, and usually they pull the seals up the next day, or sometimes a few days after the tint job, as for it being called aftermarket, locally here the scion dealer actually sugested going to the place they do thier tinting, it was 200.00 less then having the dealer do it, and they were sending the car the same place (how is that for honesty)

Well, I don't think most cars have 2 sets of weatherstripping(The problem with out tc's). Tinters think there is only one.
