Default I am Finally ON!!

Well over a year and 1/2 ago I bought my Scion I would put it around March 13, 2004. When I got it I clearly remember Hector telling me I should go on Scion Life introduce myself as the girl who bought the white scion

https://www.scionlife.com/features/2003010/

Literally a year and a half later I figured out this was what he was talking about
:-D its funny because i had no concept of what forums were and what they were all about... So I am excited to be here now...

I wanted this Scion so bad at a point in time when Scion did not exsist over here in Miami! sooo I had to have one and being 18 and completely living on my own of course I was going to figure out a way to go get it, i managed to get this far why not go the extra 2500 miles :-D !

Soo what I did was buy a one way ticket to LAX without letting my family (in Maine where I had to moved to Florida from) know a thing.. I decided critism from skeptists would only hinder me from getting what I wanted soo I told no one I was about to cross the country alone (WITHOUT A CELLPHONE) and almost nothing one backpack... and at the time a trucker hat!

The guys at Toyoata of Glendora I am sure thought I was a crazy girl and that it was dangerous for me not having a saftey net... but the first limb I went out on was buying the one way ticket to LAX to meet who knows what kind of person that was "selling me a scion"... but I went alone anyway!

I am a firm believer in taking risks and I made it back alive in about 36 driving hours... 90 mph plus; but it was an amazing expirence to have on my own at 18 comign out of maine and crossing the country into Florida to California and back! So now that I am aboard I look forward to being here! I will deffinately post pictures shortly!

Wow..... And they say I'm nuts about driving!

Congrats on the drive. I've always been partial to pounding it out on the road over flying. My last jaunt was a flat out run from Denver to Spokane in 15.5 hours. I'd love to do someting like a LA to Miami run sometime.

I deff recommend and cross country trip or long distance trip if you came out of a small town with no concept of whats really out there! The white scion only had a few low miles on it when I got it and I have almost 52000 miles on it now! after I came back from Californa less then a month later I shot up to Maine real quick to see my family and back... This car has been good to me... I love it!

I've made the drive from ATL to Los Angeles twice, it's a wonderful vacation, I would recommend it to anyone, especially car people. I plan on making the same drive in my new white box in the spring of 06.

Wow I had a similar expierence. My dad saw Scion at the Detriot Auto Show for the american release. He called me from the show and told me he found the car that was perfect for me. I looked and gatherd as much info as I could. No one knew anything! He went to another auto show again Scion was a big hit. Still the perfect car for me, according to him! After a lot of research and phone calling I found one I liked near my parents house in P.A. I flew home to see them and find out about this car. I went and bought my new car in Newark D.E.. I had to wait a day so they could accessorize my Scion Xb, I got the wing, fogs, and CAI as well as Lojack. I came back to pick it up 24hrs later I had never had an expierence like this before. You buy a car you take it home that day right? Well so I drive it home in an 1" or 2 of snow to my parents house. I get up and the next day and cautiously drive around. Now for the big trip, I get up the follwing day and drive through 4" of snow for a long time on my journey home(Austin, Tx). After 2 days of driving and 2000 miles unbelievable weather condition changes, I knew I made the right decision. This is the BEST car I have ever owned. I have since been all over the place in my Scion, I love that it handles everything my life can throw at it. I had the first one in Austin, Tx, I remeber the crazy looks from friends and passers by. I have owned alot of good cars. I will have my Scion for a long time. I have done mods and continue to work on it. My girlfriend want a Volvo when we started to date. She is the proud owner of an 05' Scion Tc RS1.0 # 459 another 1st for Austin. She absolutely loves hers. I believe these are the most amazing cars being built for right now. These cars definetly define you as a person I think. Hopefully I didn't bore you too badly. Just wanted to say I know what you mean. By the way the Forums Rock!!! Keep it up! Thanks [/img]

Me and my wife bought a used XB Maryland. Bought a one-way ticket to Maryland (BWI) and made the 1,500 mile trip back down to Houston!! We turned it into a mini-vacation stopping here and there to chill. We even dodged a hurricane while passing through Geogia! The box held up well and we both LOVE your purchase.

Nice to know that there are others out there that aren't afraid to take chances on what they want!

I'm a risk taker too....did a "buy it now" on e-bay for on July 30th 2005 for my 2004. We (3) drove from Indiana (45 minutes east of Chicago) to Connecticut, then drove through NYC, spent 2 nights in Long Island, and 1,000 miles later we were back home. We are able to see ground zero, something I'll never forget. It was the best experience, no hassle deal, and my friends still can't believe I bought a car off e-bay. Since I buy everything else there, why not? Oh yea, TheScionicman made me aware that he was on these boards, and I was able to read up on his postings. Thanks Sman...

Now THAT is some serious dedication to Scion! I agree with you about taking a cross country trip, and not just if you are from a small town. Anyone should do it if they have the opportunity. Peeps in the big city can learn a lot from us "small town" folks as well. I travelled 15,000 miles over four months in '00 with a buddy of mine. Best experience of my life. You learn a lot about who you are and what you want. If I had my XB back then, it would have made for much fewer sleepless nights. Try curling up in the front seat of a '97 Ford Ranger!
