Default Replacing carpet with wipeable material.

Has anyone removed the factory carpet and replaced it with a plastic or wipeable material like in the honda element?

that is one of the best fetures of the element but i went with the xB for mpg. i want that feature in my xb.

any ideas on where to get a similar material for DIY?

thanks

bedliner spray would not be so cool it would look terrible because the floor pan is embossed.

If we remove the rear seating even more bolt holes lumps and bumps show up.

The option is either auto carpet or Element-like rubber matting. But how do you get a heat-moldable rubberized matting. Cuz that's what you'd need to do the front.

The rear can/could be done in conventional sheet rubberized material. I don't know where to get it by the yard. especially in the neat Honda dot dot dot pattern.

Good question, thread starter! thanks,

Reid

This if funny, I just read in another forum that some Element owners are having regular carpet installed for a more luxurious interior.

The grass is always greener I guess.

I found some possibilities at matsetc.com. One type came in 4 ft. widths and could be custum ordered for about $90. This stuff had little nubs you could lay on carpet to stay in place. I think it is clear, so you could trace and cut to size. What do you mean by "the front'? I'm definitely wanting to cover so I can do all the water sports things with my dog and preserve my soon to arrive xb.

I dont agree. one of my friends (knew him from another band) had his Caravan bedlinered (is that a word?) anyway, he had bright yellow bedliner sprayed on the inside and outside. it looked pretty good.

Oh, other than the added weight, talk about sound deadening, and lack of dents, this thing was tank when it came to stuff hittin it.

The carpeting isn't too hard to remove. If such a thing exists, you could spray some rubber on it fairly easily.
