UPDATE!!! VIDEO!!!

Click here to watch / listen to the Draxas exhaust! (http://media.putfile.com/MVI_013395)

Hello fellow tC power modder's, my Draxas full S-Pipe Back (s-pipe is on back order) came in today. I just got home, and took pictures of how well the exhaust was packaged, and I also took pictures of the exhaust uninstalled. I must say, the shipping was EXTREMELY fast, Draxas is all the way in Cali, and I'm in Maryland (west to east coast), the exhaust was shipped Friday, and I received it Today (Wednesday, 10-5-05). The packing couldn’t be better! The entire package was filled with foam that was fitted to the pipes, cat, hardware, and muffler; not a thing could be shaken up in the package. All of the pipes and other hardware were covered in thick plastic bags, all individually sealed for even more protection.

Once I finally tore away at the box, and removed all the plastic, all I can say is WOW. The exhaust is completely stainless steel polished to a MIRROR finish. The welds are top notch; the flanges are a perfect fit (I couldn’t fit the spipe flange yet cause I haven’t installed it yet).

And for the most important part of the exhaust look wise... the muffler / tip. I thought I liked my TRD exhaust... but the Draxas exhaust looks 50 times better IMO! The tip is bigger and also cut at an angle (see the pictures below and you will know what I mean, by an angle I do NOT mean a JDM slant, the tip comes out straight). How the tip is designed, it is a heat shield in itself, so you shouldn’t have to worry about burning your bumper like I heard the Megan exhaust does. The tip also has the Draxas logo on top of the tip, which I think is a very nice touch.

I will try my hardest to have this installed tomorrow, 10-6-05 (depends on my access to a shop). If I can’t install it tomorrow, I should have it completed over the weekend.

I will update this post as soon as I take picture's of it installed, Sound Clips, Video's, and Q&A for any users that have question.

BTW, all hardware is included to install this exhaust. And there is NO possible way that the hardware can fall out of the box. Everything is sealed very well as you see in the picture's below.

PLEASE EXCUSE MY FINGER PRINTS!!! lol, I will be wiping down all the pipes with alcohol before I start my car to so there are no fingerprints on the exhaust.

Ok guys and gals, the exhaust is finally installed. The install was very easy, it took me about 20 - 30 minutes to uninstall the stock exhaust with the TRD axel back, and install the Draxas exhaust. This exhaust looks great on the car, and sounds amazing. With the exhaust having a high flow cat, you can hear the exhaust when your not on the gas (not ver loud though, but enough to make ya feel good inside).

The exhaust also looks great on the car. I like the 4" angled tip on it.

Videos to come soon (hopefully tomorrow)

I have never been so happy to see someone ELSE get something.....but i just ordered my last week and it should be shipped out soon if not already!!!!! Looks Beautiful by the way.....love that angle cut on the tip too. Congats cant wait to see it on the car!!!!!

BrEaK_AwaY
10-06-2005, 02:43 PM
If you ordered yours last week I would assume you would be getting it fast. I talked to draxas myself on Friday about my order. The president of Draxas has been traveling around on for business alot latly, so if you dont see your order by the end of this week, give them a call.

Ill find out around 1:00pm EST if I'll be able to use the lift at my guys shop

btw, im a big fan of the angled tip too :)

rolloutrs1
10-06-2005, 05:57 PM
did it come with a resonator? thanks.

Kaydus
10-06-2005, 06:27 PM
will the finger prints not come off the pipes if you start the car before tryin to wipe them off?

BrEaK_AwaY
10-06-2005, 06:47 PM
the exhaust did not come witha resonator. but the second batch of exhaust draxas is producing will have a straight through resonator. I will be getting this shipped along with my spipe.

It will be extremely hard to get the finger prints (oil) out of the pipes once they are heated. the oil will pretty much get backed into the pipes. so after i am done installing it, i will wipe down the entire exhaust with rubbing alcohol to clean it, then dry with a clean towel. and start the baby up.

UPDATE: the lift I want to use is currently in use. So as of now the scheduled date for me to use the lift is this Sunday, 10-9-05. If this changes I will let you know.

I could install this exhaust with my car on jack stands, but it would make my life 20 times harder, plus I wouldnt be able to take the picture i want to take for you guys. So i figure its worth the wait to use the lift.

Man, that looks really nice. I didn't know that Draxas was shipping them with a hi-flow cat (maybe I just don't remember.) That they're going to add a resonator option soon makes it even better. How much did it cost you, and do you have a link to their website? (I think I have an old link, just wondering if there is something more current.)

Definitely looking forwards to installed pics/sound clips even more now :)

wow depending on price, I really like this setup! Yea if u dont mind post info on ordering / price and get those install pics up asap! haha. looks nice! Reminds me of my other cars catback by thermal r&d, which is an awesome setup! I like it when they have it like the stock setup with the sideways canister.

EDIT. I found this link
http://store.draxas.com/detail.asp?Cat=&Sub=&Item=520#
$725...

me wanting to do header, and full exhaust before supercharger is getting more and more expensive and though to find realistic to complete haha.

BrEaK_AwaY
10-07-2005, 05:12 PM
www.draxas.com

725 is a correct price, that includes the spipe, hi-flow cat, and resonator/mid-pipe(will be shipping for the 2nd batch of orders), muffler/tip, hardware, and... LIFETIME WARRANTY!

I cant wait till sunday to install this exhaust!

draxas is also coming out with a 4-1 header to match up with this exhaust. once that is released i will have a complete header AND back draxas exhaust

Chaos_Being
10-08-2005, 06:32 AM
Pricy, but not bad considering that it includes a s-pipe as well as a hi-flow cat, and will soon include a resonator. I like the design too, not a lot of bends in the pipe.

I wonder if you can get it without the s-pipe, and if so, what the cost would be. The reason being that by the time I do I/H/E, hopefully the MMW 4-2-1 header/s-pipe combo will have dropped in price a bit :)

I feel a little extra power, not much (i feel it the most when i let off the gas, you can tell the exhaust is flowin better with the hi flow cat)

no rasps as of yet, and the exhaust will get slightly louder and deeper once it is broke in.

hopefully i with have some videos tonight so you guys can hear it for yourself

I've been watching this exhaust since I've seen banners here on SL and it's one that I've been trying to find more info on. I'd love to see a video (as would everyone else, of course :) ). But I might end up waiting for the header to go with it. Do you have any aftermarket header installed?

BrEaK_AwaY
10-10-2005, 01:56 PM
I currently do NOT have a header installed. This exhaust sounds great with the stock exhaust manifold.

I will be installing the Draxas header once it is completed (4 - 1 header)

So my exhaust will be completely draxas from the header, to the tip.

We have decided to extend the $75 discount through the end of the year. We have had such a good response to the offer that we had no choice but to extend it. When placing the order, please make sure to list your ScionLife screen name in the notes section of the order process. If you do not mention you are a member of ScionLife and list your screen name, then you will be billed full price.

Is this for the exhaust with the resonator? If so I'd be set to purchase.

How is the last section of piping connected? Does it need to be welded, clamped, or is it a press fit?

BrEaK_AwaY
10-11-2005, 01:59 AM
it fits very snug into the piping for the muffler. it also have a clam to hold it on even tighter. this connection could be welded very easily if you would want it to be welded, though it is not needed.

my friend took some videos tonight, so hopefully ill have them up here tomorrow depending on quality

he is a very busy person with SEMA coming very soon, he is traveling alot right now, so it is very hard to get ahold of draxas.

the 2nd batch of exhaust WILL come with a resonator at no extra cost I believe.

I will update you on when they are avalible, as well as the s-pipe.

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to step in and give everybody an update. We are SWAMPED on our projects leading up to SEMA. Most notibly the project vehicle we are working on to get ready before the show. Any of you who have worked on a SEMA project vehicle understand how stressful this can be.

We expect the resonator optioned Scion tC exhausts to be ready to ship out shortly after our return from SEMA. We have been receiving MANY requests for this option, so it is a priority to make it happen.

For those of you trying to contact us. The best way to reach us over the next 2-3 weeks will be via email. We are very rarely near the phone at this time. Email allows us to check it late at night once we wrap up the days work. If you do call, please leave a message. We hear the phone ringing and then people hanging up.

The Sound is Perfect...at idle, at normal rev, and when you stomp on it sounds great.....i only have an intake and man what a compliment!!! There is some nice pull ...maybe its in my head but the car is responding nicely to the exhaust.....Also the stock exhaust system is much heavier then the Draxas system so i am sure that an easy 10 to 20 lbs are lost too!!! Not sure if you noticed that too Break_Away......Over all extremely satisfied...i will try to get some vid's and pics too!!!

im happy you like your exhaust as well! i didnt really notice weight, but i wasnt comparing it either, so I wouldnt know about weight.

i can say that exhaust is REAL deep in the 2k - 3k range

as for dyno... the numbers they got the first time were messed up (the dyno was messed up), so eventually i should be getting my car dyno'ed

Looks and sounds good.

VERY similar to the sound of my Creative Compacts, full exhaust.

Too bad Draxas werent shipping when I as ready to buy, though I am very happy with my CC, mine may be a bit louder with the Borla muffler.

Im glad I waited because this is exactly what I want. The sound is great and it looks similar to stock (which once again is what i want). I just want to make sure the new exhaust is being shipped w/ the resinator and spipe because I want the whole deal. Also --- should I get the header now or wait?? anybody have a view on this? When it comes time to passing emissions in NJ ....will i have a problem w/ this new setup?

Fushyuguru
11-06-2005, 04:11 AM
With a high flow CAT, no. Shouldnt be a problem. I'm in NJ (Stevens Inst. of Tech). Even if you do have problems, let me know. I run with the RX7-Rotary people (I'm working on a FD 20B 3-rotor project car, my moneypit for the next 10 years), dirtiest engines on the roads, they spit fire 2ft on downshifts. You think modified RX7's are street legal?

I should get a video of my CC-Full setup, its very similar, just not polished. People should not be scared to buy either of these exhausts, both are sick.

Hey everyone... Just a little update: We are scheduling to have Phillip come back into the shop the week of November 28th to complete the modifications to our exhausts for adding the resonator.

We have been receiving a TON of emails and phone calls from tC owners looking for an exhaust system that will once and for all take care of the exhaust sound issue with a header. This will be the kit for you! I dont expect the price of the kit to increase at all...more good news! :-)

After we complete the rework, I will update the description of the exhaust, take more vids of Phillips car, update pics, and begin taking orders for the kits. I expect these exhausts to sell VERY QUICKLY.... so if you want to reserve one of these exhausts, I suggest placing the order as soon as you see me post here that it is time to do so.

Again as always, if you have questions for me, please PM me or email me. Sales@Draxas.com

Happy Motoring!

my car is stock performance wise beside the draxas exhaust. I am waiting for the s-pipe to ship. I currently have the stock s-pipe.

with my car not taking much air in, it doesnt need to force much out, so i dont feel a large increase. i am positive this will change once i add the draxas header, as well as go FI. their will be dyno numbers around the 28th, so stay tuned!

Im wondering if i want to change my header when I get my s/c --- if something goes wrong w/ my engine they are going to blame it on the header (eventhough it wouldnt be) -- but i sure that would be the case. They are going to say that because of the design specs ...blah blah blah..caused the change and made the engine fail out. I know im going to change the exhaust and spipe but deff leaning in the direction of not touching the header.

BrEaK_AwaY
11-18-2005, 02:53 PM
the header wont mess up your engine at all. the only it is doing is releasing more air flow, and releaving some backpressure.

as long as you have an antifouler on your spipe to ensure you dont get a CEL, you should be fine.

Keep in mind, the dealer has to have it IN WRITING why your engine malfunctioned, and why it was the parts fault (in this care an aftermarket header)

jwaggz82
11-18-2005, 11:08 PM
yea but cant they say that because of the different design in air flow its not making the engine perform to specs?

Jowie

yea but cant they say that because of the different design in air flow its not making the engine perform to specs?

All depends on the nature of the problem. Lets say for instance, all of a sudden your ECU leans out the A/F ratio and causes the engine to start knocking blah blah blah to the point that something gets damaged. You have a aftermarket header. Now all the aftermarket headers I have seen have the A/F sensor tapped in a location where they are only reading the exhaust off 1 cylinder. Lets say that it just so happens that particular cylinder for some reason was running rich, lets say for some reason the injector for that cylinder was malfunctioning. Well, the computer at that point would think the entire engine is running rich, because stock, the A/F sensor is in a location where it can "see" exhaust from all cylinders. So your computer leans out the mixture to compensate for the 1 cylinder running rich, but all the others were running "normal". Now those other 3 cylinders are lean causing knock, the knock sensor picks that up you get a CEL and take it in, but the damage has been done.

In this ENTIRELY HYPOTHETICAL situation, yes the dealer can peg the damage caused on the header cause the factory A/F sensor was only reading exhaust off a single cylinder, compensating for that cylinder only, causing problems in the other cylinders that were running fine. Bam, no warranty coverage.

Again this is just a hypothetical situation.

jwaggz82
11-28-2005, 01:28 AM
i see what u are saying.... so there is "a .00001" chance on how this could happen... thanks for the example. Due to the slim chances I think its time to look into what header I wanna get.

Incorrect. the 28th was the APPROXIMATE time they were going to try to get a tC on the dyno with the exhaust that has a resonator.

As I said before, please be patient, Draxas wants to ensure the tC owners get a quality product. So all in all it comes down to:

Waiting a little longer to put out a quality product

or...

Releasing what they have now and not being 100% satisfied (not to say what they have now isnt good, but they are striving for perfection, and most importantly, what the tC owners want!)

So again, please be patient, I am positive it will pay off.

Its good to know whats up w/ the production that way we know that it will be worth waiting for. I called 3 times and didnt know there was a phone problem..... i was already looking into a different company because I thought they just didnt answer the phone (and I dont want to buy from a company like that) ....anyway.... jwaggz82, im not sure what you meen a header for FI or NA. If you meen with the header have a spot for an external wastegate? no it will not.

But it will still work for the TRD s/c as well as an NA car like the rest of the headers made for the tC.

The reason you are having trouble getting ahold of them through email or phone is because the main contact at draxas is out on business, but I assure you as soon as he gets back he will listen to all the voice mails, read all the emails, check the forums, and reply.

Again, please have faith in a very good company

Also, for those of you who want to call us, we have a new phone number:

661-992-4384

We now have someone near the phone each day to take messages and answer questions. He's new, so give him some time to get up to speed. ;-)

S-Pipes are SUPPOSED to be done next week.... But how long have I been saying that.

Resonated Exhausts... Originally we were supposed to bring Phillip's tC into the facility on November 28th, but that didnt work out for the fabricator. So we moved it to December 12th.. but Phillip had a family emergency that required him to fly back East. So now we are tentatively set for next week.

Anyone who places an order for the kit will NOT have their credit card charged.

The $75 discount will be extended into January due to the delays we have had releasing these parts.

And yes, good things DO come to those who wait. ;-)

Since Phil did not get into the shop, they were not able to dyno it.

Update!!!

We are now shipping RESONATED Scion tC Exhaust Systems!!!! If you place your order, we can now ship you our exhaust with the resonator installed. I will be posting pics tomorrow afternoon as well as a new video of Phillip's car with the new resonator added.

S-Pipes will be shipping out next week, GUARANTEED! I saw them myself, they are awaiting polishing and WILL be shipping out beginning Tuesday/Wednesday of next week.

Please feel free to call our new number any time or shoot us an email. You can place your order for the full exhaust systm, S-Pipe included, and the parts will ship out. We are still offering the $75 discount to all Scion Life members through the end of January, so act fast. I have new video of the exhaust....I just havent had time to compile it into a nice 15-30 second long clip.

For the discount... I will be deducting the $75 off the total price before I bill your credit card. The store will still say the total is $725, but that is NOT what you will be charged.

All of those people who pre-ordered the exhaust will have their exhausts shipped first.

Here is a short movie that I just put together of Phillip's Scion tC. His car has a K&N Intake and AlphaWerks Header. This is our new exhaust with resonator added. The resonator DRAMATICALLY Lowered the sound level and raspiness of the exhaust. Phillip's wife and baby will actually ride in the car without complaining now! :-)

The car in the first sound clip on the first page is my car, that has only spipe back exhaust

the video of the 2nd car on the last page was phils car (intake, AW header, and spipe AND back exhaust with resonator) so you should be able to get a real good idea of how it sounds with those different videos and modifications.

Most exhaust companies are only making axel-back exhaust for the tC, where as draxas is designing the header and back exhaust. I have got nothing but compliments from tC owners about the way my exhaust looks and sounds. also keep in mind it is a LIFETIME WARRANTY, many other companys offer a 1 year limited warranty only, if that.

You could also hold off on the header and wait till draxas releases theirs. they are putting in alot of R&D before they release it (like all of their products, they would rather take the time to get it right, rather then put a part out asap to make quick money; quality is very important to draxas)

they are looking into the CEL issue to look at alternative methods of correction as well

A turbo acts as a muffler/baffle so the sound level will drop. Almost identical tone, just quieter.

how about with the supercharger? same concept right...? ..should be less noise right? I already ordered the exhaust and spipe and im going to wait on the header and supercharger till next year.

Break_away or Draxas..... about when should i see my exhaust get shipped? I ordered last week but I know many many people already had them on preorder. What type of delay am I looking at so I can continue my planning?

Does anybody know if there was a good post on installing a new header? I am going to get the exhaust installed via a shop so they can put it on a lift and look up at whats going on. Even with a jack it will be a pain for me to do it. The header on theo the other hand might be easy enough to do myself since its going to be the draxas header (if i do it at all). How easy would it be to swap the header out w/ the stock one? From what I hear its pretty easy. Sorry for all the questions but I have many questions and know you guys have all the answers.

I really would like to go with the Draxas header but I don't know if I can handle the wait. I know they have their hands full with other projects and the developement on the S-pipe took a good amount of time. Mind you I know you can't rush everything but Alphawerks header put out some pretty impressive dyno numbers. So I'm thinking I might just have to go with them.

Header install thread: http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=56520

A supercharger will likely make the exhaust louder since its increasing airflow. The turbo muffles the exhaust since it is in the exhaust path. The supercharger is belt driven and doesnt have the same effect.

jwaggz82
01-02-2006, 09:59 PM
ok great - im sure I will have atleast a few months before draxas releases their header so I have time to think things through.

BrEaK_AwaY
01-02-2006, 10:35 PM
I cant tell you when you should be expecting your exhaust system jwaggz82, that is a question for draxas, and i am sure he will be checking this forum very regularly.

the header release date is estimated to be feb.-mar. Their is going to be alot of R&D in this header to give tC owners what they want

and as instigator said, a turbo will make the exhaust quieter since its run off exhaust , where as the sc is belt driven so you can expect the exhaust to probably get a tad louder. How much louder (or louder at all) i cant answer because draxas hasnt tested their exhaust system (with or without a header) on a turbo or supercharged tC.

jwaggz82
01-02-2006, 10:51 PM
Sounds good - i think the safe bet would be to see the header in march (which a few months away with R&D ...come on...thats a great time. 3months to make a product the best as possible. ....I cant ask for much more. Ill be waiting to see which setup they chose and what the performance gains are. Since ill have the exhaust setup installed ill prob get car stands and jack my car up and install the header myself. I hear that the header is hard to install when the supercharger is installed (which sounds very possible) but can someone comment on the truth to this?

Scion-ce

I ordered my exhaust with s-pipe. Should ship on Tuesday. I have the supercharger so I will post sound clips as soon as I install it.

BrEaK_AwaY
01-03-2006, 01:35 AM
it would be more difficult to install a header AFTER the supercharger is installed. Reason being is the shaft that connects the superchargers pully to the compressor is directly above the exhaust manifold. So if one were to install a header AFTER the supercharger is installed, you would have to remove alot of the superchargers parts to install a header. So all in all save your self time (and money if your not installing it) and slap the header on first.

and sounds clip's with your s/c'ed tC would be nice

I tried both forum and PM - both no reply on the vague question of when they "think" my exhaust will ship ....so to answer your question. No. After giving them $650 upfront I would atleast expect a reply on when the product might ship. If they said a month from now I would atleast know to start looking for UPS in 3 weeks instead of every day for a month.

The order has not shipped out yet. But it should have left already. I was told by the company we have a contract with to build these kits for us that the S-Pipes would be ready to ship the last week of December. The exhaust systems have been done for quite some time, we were only held up by the S-Pipes.

I got a phone call today from the fabricator telling me the S-Pipes were FINALLY ready to ship and would be packed up and shipped out tomorrow afternoon. Everyone who has placed an order for a Scion tC Exhaust with S-Pipe will have their packages shipped out tomorrow.

I will make a post on Scion Life to let everyone know.
